A lot of people think "science" = reading the abstract of one or two studies from CCP funding. Real experts understand the mechanisms and investigate statistical and common sense analyses of the studies to see if they provide information, in these cases.

98% of scientists reach the conclusions desired by the people signing their checks. The other 2% are unemployable racist climate denying anti-vaxxing anti-masking unpersons whose work will be discredited by the other 98% despite reproducible and logical conclusions supported by empirical evidence.

I can tell you that statistics are heavily influenced by the bias of who runs the study.

Even without malice or dishonesty, in the real world there are so many factors, variables and outliers that statistics is more an art than a science.
