Repeat after me: zinc, zinc, zinc! My personal conclusion: modern diets do not provide enough minerals for ideal health.
Your comment reminded me of an article I read years ago, which talked about how fruits and vegetables now contain far fewer vitamins and minerals than fruits and vegetables did a few decades ago (mostly because of industrial farming and not allowing fields to lie fallow). It would certainly explain why people seem to get sick more nowadays, even if they do eat a supposedly 'good' diet.
Exactly. I have read similar stuff. Also, consider organic farming. One important supplement used in organic farming is rock powder. Rock powder is often ground volcanic rock, so fresh minerals is provided to plants. Minerals, again.
That makes a lot of sense - the area around volvanoes is always very fertile (hence why people risk living near them). I'll have to look into rock powder as it'd be nice to give my own plants a bit of a boost. Thanks!
I agree with you 100%. Lots of medical issues with me started going away when I 1) megadosed vitamin D, 2) megadosed A, 3) took selenium, 4) magnesium, 5) iodine, 6) zinc
I had always avoided zinc and took it in a cal-mag-zinc supplement. The reason was that zinc makes me nauseated. I found a form that works for me, it's called country life target-mins zinc and has 3 forms that apparently don't bother me at the dose 50mg, which is the most one should take daily. Too much zinc is bad. Too much selenium also is bad
actually too much of minerals is much more dangerous than too much vitamins or herbs, and that should speak to how fundamental they are
If you take zinc every day you should spare a day where you take copper instead, since zinc interferes with copper (and iron) absorption. Except for women and beta male vegans you don't really have to worry about iron

Correct me if I'm wrong here pedes, but I think the timeline goes like this.
Chloroquine appears effective against coronavirus. Blue state hospitals start hoarding it, probably under direct order from asshoe governors. Bayer and Teva flood the market with millions of doses. Blue state governors do an about-face and start to ban Chloroquine, claiming hoarders are preventing lupus patients from getting their medication. Blue state inhabitants grab pitchforks and torches and head out in spite of quarantine. After a couple days under seige, blue state governors relent and allow it again. We're now at the point where blue state governors are proclaiming they know better than doctors, and require you to be near death to receive it. Doctors are saying early is better, and waiting too long makes it useless.

Take elderberry with the zinc. We know observationally this works because elderberry and zinc reduce flu (influenza virus infection) from 5-6 days to 2. This means that the combination works
Now why does it work. Let me tell you because I asked this question and researched it exhaustively. I believe this is because elderberry contains iso-quercetin which acts like a zinc ionophore also, pushing the zinc into the cells (zinc ionophore activity), either by itself or whatever isoquercetin is metabolized into by the liver and makes it into the bloodstream (likely quercetin glucuronides)
