Defense teams can and will always try any path available. I would guess that the best hope in Maxwells case is that it could remove some limited documentation from available evidence for the trial. The bigger impact would be on anyone’s case who is tied into this. If your name got leaked via this method then you get to jump on your own defense early and have a lot of room to argue against warrants and other searches. Essentially just claim your client was targeted with a public release of information by the government to achieve a warrant via political pressure rather than substantial evidence.
