Right?! For me, even these very light masks are restrictive. I have some mild asthma so don’t know if that’s the reason, but I struggle and begin to feel panicked within about 2 minutes of being completely covered.
Oh they definitely restrict breathing if worn correctly, and to make matters worse they accumulate dirt and moisture the longer they're worn making them increasingly unpleasant and ineffective over time if not outright harmful.
It just cracks me up that the "argument" against the fact that masks are unpleasant to wear is to point out that they shouldn't be because they're also ineffective.
Idiots can't grasp the physics inherent to the problem. It is literally impossible to filter particles from a fluid without restricting the flow of the fluid. Furthermore, fluids flow through the path of least resistance, so if you have a large restrictive membrane over your nose and mouth, and a quarter inch gap around your cheeks and chin, then all you're doing is redirecting the air, not filtering it.
So anyone claiming they can breath easily in their mask all day long is really just admitting that their mask isn't actually doing anything.
Good news, light cloth masks poorly held onto your face with ear loops barely restrict your breath at all.
HOWEVER... if they don't, then how are they supposed to restrict the spread of a virus?
