Haha let me tell you a dirty little secret. Well it's not a secret, but lot's of gov contracts are given preference to minority owned businesses. My dad is white, my mom is black. They ran a business that bid for contracts. Guess who owned 51 percent of the business? Almost all the businesses in the field were somehow minority owned. It's absolute bullshit.

They ended up losing everything anyways because they were the wrong minority owned company to bid lowest on a very lucrative job. And they refused to pay kickbacks to dirty job inspectors.

Now everyone has gotten pushed out of the industry by legal Mexicans that employ illegal immigrants, but that's neither here nor there. This industry in that specific state, also pays cash now, even to legal employees. Massive cartel laundering front.

this is an important point. Many business list in prominent type, right on their bid sheet: "Woman owned" "Minority owned" "Disadvantaged business" etc. all because of the federal set-asides and % mandates for such businesses. Even if they're 20% more expensive, no experience, lower quality, etc, they get the bid.

The racism of low expectations is pervasive.

They're required by law to solicit bids from minority-owned businesses.
