Kind of authoritarian and middle of the road, really. Socialist policy was needed to control businesses and use them for the war machine, but a degree of competition was kept as natural selection is a big part of Nazi philosophy when it comes to business and politics.

Communism and socialism are by definition authoritarian. Who decides what is each person's fair share? How much work each person should do and what they deserve in return? An all powerful government, of course. You need police or military to show up with guns and strongarm resources away from those who have to give it to the have nots. There is no version of either socialism or communism that has ever existed without a strong government to force redistribution.
