Can we throw in the DNC as a package deal?

44
Afeazo 44 points ago +44 / -0

Republicans should start pulling this bullshit if the Dems do it, throwing in unrelated points into bills. Make a bill called “The national legalization of marijuana and increased welfare bill” and throw in a clause that the DNC gets dismantled and can never serve as politicians or lobbyists ever again. Then cal them racist when they vote against it.

🤔 How is a quisling US shell company .. that will just middleman for China .. functionally any different than presently?

Basically its a way to transfer tens of billions of MSFT's dollars out to comrades in China before it all gets frozen or seized here for mass murder and sedition.

I do admit I used tiktok for about a month and their curation algorithm was pretty solid. I wound up tapping like on a bunch of pro trump tiktoks and then my feed became a ton of trump memes and anti sjw stuff, and genuinely funny comedy skits. The occasional cringe dance video popped in but I just ignored it.

Tiktok itself isn't a bad app, they're basically a Vine clone. But the fact that this Vine clone is controlled by the CCP as a data harvesting app scared the living shit out of me. When the decompiled app was leaked on a bunch of tech subreddits I flipped out and deleted both it and my account asap. Soup to nuts, Tiktok harvests data from your device at a level that FB and the rest of the lot only wish they could.

The app is a literal threat to national security.

"US" "running social networks today"

Pretty sure china plays a big hand in how social media networks operate right now.

Shut that shit down! All Social Media is pretty much China owned, break them all up and make it impossible for any few companies to control the entire internet ever again.

So China is simply moving the asset to one of its US subsidiaries. How does this change anything?

4
SNRNXS 4 points ago +4 / -0

Selling it to Microsoft? Why give them any more power and money? Just outright ban it.

TikTok has said it has never provided user data to China and that it would not do so if asked, saying in a statement that it has “no higher priority than promoting a safe app experience that protects our users’ privacy.”

if you have any operations in China, Chinese government owns you. They don’t have to ask.

2
julianReyes 2 points ago +2 / -0

A group of US investors, including Silicon Valley big shot Sequoia Capital, were reportedly in discussions last week to buy the platform’s American business in hopes of lessening scrutiny on the app.

Note that what's been discussed so far is buying a MAJORITY stake, not outright acquiring the entirety of US Douyin. So far it looks like some Chinese investors would continue to hold a minority stake in the event of a sale.

Stringray 2 points ago +2 / -0

Screw TikTok! It literally does the same thing other apps do! But we’ve had Chinese propaganda shoved down our throats with the help of traitorous politicians and companies like Apple and Google!

1
aussie_maga 1 point ago +1 / -0

To be fair, Tiktok is the source of a lot of memes and fun. Example the Coffin Dance was popularized in Tiktok. Even alot of political memes we use like the Ramen Guy came from Tik Tok.

The "format of the media" is what makes it good. The problem is the owners (CCP) is using it for spying purposes.

Because the format itself is good, other tech sites are working to launch competition. I guess that is good news kinda. But we all know it is going to have same problems of censorship from Big Tech.

Outright banning Tik Tok from normal users, will be a bad move. It will drive people to hate Trump. It is like banning weed. People are going to get angsty and petty about it.

Banning Tiktok from use for people who work on government / security / military / critical positions is a good compromise. It is targeted and is justified.

This order to force sale of Tik tok is possibly another a better solution to outright ban of Tik Tok.

It's digital crack that's already fermented an entire generations psychi, it needs to go and the normie users on the app will either have to understand how damaging inflated followings are to these degenerates or get mad and go somewhere else for their brainlet content.

Being owned by Silicon Valley is pretty much the same as being owned by China at this point, but I'll take it.
