If you are just drinking drip coffee then you do not need an expensive machine. The machine just pours hot water over ground coffee beans and is pretty cheap. You can also just do it yourself as well, look up 'Pour Over' or get a cheap French press.
Quality coffee is 10x more important, especially if you plan on drinking it black.

I boil mine for a full minute with some cane sugar in the pot, comes out strong with a nice caramelized note. About four spoons of sugar for an entire pot ( i have a large stainless press). Yes, some coffee purists will hate on me. :)
Freshly ground locally-roasted beans with my Bodum burr grinder. Then add a pinch of kosher salt to the coffee before slowly pressing it in my French press. Never cream or sugar, good Norwegians don't do that.
