I am a long time Reddit user (since at least 2009) who now reminisces on the good days where pretty much anything could be posted to Reddit.

My parents are Republican but I was NEVER exposed to politics growing up. I never engaged in political discussion, nor was I influenced by friends or peers. I considered myself politically neutral for most of my life and almost avoided politics altogether. I have never voted.

However, I noticed that for a year leading up to the 2015 election, there was a ton of "Sandersforpresident" bullshit on the front page. It was getting annoying because I didn't care about the presidency at all. However, I noticed some changes trickling in, and they weren't good.

"Bernie Sanders Bernie Sanders Bernie Sanders." It was seriously becoming a cliche. They truly portray him like he is fucking Jesus. His followers were part of a fucking cult. I was convinced he had a chance in 2016, considering how often he was on the front page of Reddit. Then he dropped out. Not even close.

That is when I realized Reddit was bullshit. I realized I was definitely not left leaning.

It's Reddit's fault I am voting for Trump. Had they not hatefully censored the shit out of all political opposition and imposed these shitty "rules" on their site, I would have just sat back and watched the fireworks... But now Trump has my vote. Reddit has opened my eyes to how batshit crazy the left is.

Fuck Reddit, fuck lefties. MAGA 2020

EXACTLY. Right or left, I have ALWAYS frowned upon companies making political statements... But it has recently gotten out of hand.

People watch sports or TV shows or play video games to escape/take a break from political crap. To be exposed to that bullshit in any of those realms is unacceptable, and it is ALWAYS liberal messages. ALWAYS!

Reddit became a giant liberal shit bubble really fast. I used to be on there 24/7! Learned a lot of great things from Reddit. Back in the day, there was an equal amount of conservative and liberal viewpoints and it was a healthy ecosystem of people debating, pushing and pulling whatever political agenda there was from both sides. Not anymore. Being conservative is against the rules now. Not cool.

I really snapped at the Gillette commercial. That is the first time in my life I ever started voting with my dollar. I haven't bought a Gillette product since. Fuck Gillette for making me (as a man) out to be some sort of cat-calling, rapey monster. They have lost a few thousand dollars in lifetime sales from me for sure.

It's like big companies don't realize that conservative people make up half of the country. Who'da thought!

Glad your eyes have been opened. As a wise man once said: You may not be interested in politics, but politics is very interested in you.

Be informed and aware, or be unarmed and vulnerable.

You don't have to agree with us, or even like the man, but thinking critically for yourself is almost always a good idea. Oh, and loving America. That's usually a great one too.

I don't consider myself far-right on the political spectrum. However, I do agree with most core republican values and absolutely despise the media. I am definitely voting red for the rest of my life.

I could never associate myself with the deplorable behavior I see coming from the left. Also, I appreciate the police. They need our support now more than ever, so the least I could do is vote.

I understand the sentiments of the far-right, I don't agree with them. I've listened to a lot different views from different people who have also thought extensively about their politics and history and their own world-views. Trump and the vast majority of his followers are not far-right.

Also, glad you support the police. They are men and women just like everyone else. I personally don't want to devolve into hate, though I am often very angered by the total lack of principles, hypocrisy and downright cruelty seen by the Left. But I try to remind myself that most are still people who can be redeemed, yet I do not abdicate laws and doling out proper sentences. I don't know. There is balance between mercy and justice. Certainly keeping caring in mind even when you must make a harsh decision is a wise course of action.

You just want to be left alone, but they will never leave you alone. You don't have to follow politics all the time, but a few minutes checking candidates' positions and going to vote are well spent to keep the nanny state out of your life.

I feel like liberal views are being shoved down my throat every damn day. I'm sick of it. So many people are brainwashed by the media. The MSM is absolutely dispicable.

Bernie Sanders never really had a chance though, thank God. But his cult still doesn't shut up on Reddit.

No matter where I turn, liberal propoganda creeps it's way into my life.

Exactly. I began to see it, too.

It is SO prevalent, it is becoming a joke. Every other massively-upvoted post is "ORANGE MAN BAD."

Trump recently slashed prices of major prescription medication and medical treatments, and also increased penalties for animal abusers a few months ago. Didn't see that on Reddit at all, though, and they are all about justice for animals and ragging on US healthcare.

You've never voted? SMH. Glad you've seen the light (and recognized your civic duty). Welcome! Please bring along friends you know have never (or rarely) voted. This is an "all hands on deck" election.

Be a Demoncrat when you're young or you have no heart..... Be a Republican when you're older or you have no brain.

You're right. I regret it. But like I said, I was never really exposed to politics in the way I have been the last few years. I never even realized how important it was to vote. I am in a big swing state. My vote matters, I am registered, and my vote is red all the way.

Bunkerbaby 4 points ago +4 / -0

Well if you had been a default liberal casting uninformed votes, I’d say that you contributed to the mess, not the other way around. People casting votes based off feelings rather than policies is worse than sitting out.

I don't think the average under-30 is even informed enough to vote.

Lowering the voting age to 18 in 1971 was a mistake. It should have been raised.
