The red pill phrase is really perfect for this. It's just like in the matrix, it's a completely different (also fake) reality being blue pilled. You can never go back, and one red pill leads to so many others.

Those hippies in the 60s? Right wing extremists, to the left. MLK, Jr? Quite the racist old conservative, to modern liberals. Abraham Lincoln? Tear down his statue, he was literally a Republican. Parents? Were never children themselves, according to children. So on, so forth.
Shit, I myself was a radical feminist twenty-odd years ago. Wrote a paper about how males should be castrated in advance before they start raping as they inevitably do, and my criminal justice teacher LOVED it, that's how extreme I was before I grew up, in an environment that fostered it.
It was easy to convince voice-cracking me that all men were monsters who deserved the cruelest of punishments just for existing. I grew out of it. But the important thing is, anybody think that nowadays anyone will be able to re-convince me? That my own gender is exclusively comprised of incubuses out to rape everything with a pulse and a vagina, pulse optional, vagina preferred but also optional?
It's not even that I'm close-minded or bigoted towards the scant possibility of it being true. If someone can present me concrete evidence I haven't already dismantled, I'll take it into proper consideration and change my views appropriately. It's just that I've already beaten that path so smooth that I could write travel guides for upcoming feminists, all the best stopping points to really rile up your righteous manhatred and get your dander up at man's treacherous ways towards woman, except that they'd never listen to me because I'm just fucking a white cisman, maaaan..
Yet except for the hardcore cynics, we all start out idealistic and naive. We were all kids once. When we're told that X is righteous, we want X to happen regardless of what it takes, or how unrighteous it actually is. That's wokedom.
Growing out of that, forming your own principles and values, and having the epiphanies that make you an adult, is what makes a person redpilled. There's no backsliding into liberalism again afterwards, it's a one-way valve. A woke person can learn to be correct eventually. A redpiller can't learn to be wrong again. (No, there's no Cypher-ing because you miss the taste of whiteknight steak.)
Nobody ever goes to sleep finally realizing "not by the color of our skin but by the content of our character" is a really good sentiment to live by, but then wakes up thinking "wait, except for white people, fuck the color of their skin." It doesn't work like that.

Red pilled is seeing and accepting reality for what it actually is, not what you want or pretend it to be.
Woke is the exact opposite. It is you saying the reality can go fuck itself because what you want to believe or fear is actually correct.
