Which is why if the election isn't a full on sham with mail in voting, Trump is a shoe in. The incumbent always has an edge if his supporters like him. The incumbent also has an edge if the opponent's supporters are only voting against the incumbent. It's been that way for ages. And yet it is what almost everyone who is on the doom and gloom train has completely forgotten.

Every 8 years the voters seem to forget that lesson. Just look at Reagan, W, Clinton, and Obama.

The odd man out was HW Bush. His supporters didn't like him, and Clinton brought more to the table than just "I'm not him." Same goes for Reagan and Carter.

Will never happen. Pence term runs out with Trumps in 2021 . So if there isn't an election then it will be handed to the Speaker of the House BUT her term runs out in December so it will go to the next senior official which is Senator Chuck Grassley. The elections will happen unless President Trump decides to do something that I would love to see but would cause liberals to want to go to war. George W BUSH after 9 11 2001 created something called Presidential Directive 51 and which was created incase of some major crisis happens in America. There is a section in the Presidential directive 51 that REQUIRES ALL BRANCHES OF GOVERNMENT to concede their power to the Executive Branch .The way it's written is SOO GENERALLY that it can literally mean anything. I think BUSH did that on purpose just case he wanted to go all dictator on America. This means President Trump could technically be the Supreme Court, Congress and US MILITARY all at the sametime. Make his own laws, judge people and send the MILITARY after anyone who doesn't follow his laws. Which would give him the authority to change the US constitution and give him self an extra term or two in office. I don't know long any President could get a way with that in America but after what I've seen from the Democrat party I DON"T CARE ANYMORE about what they want. I would not have any issue with President Trump making himself king. haha.

I'm not religious and identify more with the libertarian and paleocon members like Rand Paul and Ted Cruz but Pence comes off as what some would call a genuine 'trad con.' But I'm not using that term derisively. A lot of 'trad cons' sold out for vice and a lot of neocon RINOs (Romney, Bush, Cheney) cloak themselves in just a vague deference to traditional culture. Which means the next in line which is Republican Chuck Grassley would be President. Unless President Trump uses Presidential Directive 51 and makes himself America's first dictator. After 8 years of Obama I kind wished George W bush did use that Directive and used his new powers to delay the election. That Directive force every branch of government to give it it's power to the Executive branch which means whoever is President could rewrite anything including changing the Constitution without any input from congress. The executive would have all the power.

I re-read it and your interpretation might not be correct. The house votes for president and the Senate votes for vice president. It could be interpreted to mean the Senate votes for VP and if the House fails to vote for a President the Senate voted VP becomes president.

However I am not a real lawyer, just a fake internet one. I will concede that your argument may have some validity.

The election will happen, but it will be contested and held up in enough states that it's quite possible that no Presidential candidate gets a majority of electoral votes. In that case, the House of Representatives will choose the President from among the top 3 candidates. Here's the catch: 1 vote per state. So the reps from each state will have to get together and decide how to vote. I suppose if they can't decide, their state's vote doesn't get counted. Anyway, it's a giant clusterfuck!

Question among pedes. Just bought a house in PA, closing 9/30. Live in a different county in PA now. Utility bills to switch registration and DMV address won’t come in time to register change of address to new county. Is it illegal to drive to polling place of old address and vote there since I’m still on the rolls there? Both key Philly suburb counties. President Trump's term last 17 days longer than Pelosi's.

If the election is DELAYED past the 3rd Trump could literally do WHATEVER HE WANTS for 17 days as EVERY SINGLE TERM in Congress expires and is thus completely illegitimate.

The panicked denial was quite funny to watch as they struggle to explain why the chain of succession would skip over the VP in favor of a woman who officially was out of office for 17 days longer than the president if it went past the 20th.

Presumably it is possible for congressional elections to be completed, but not the presidential election.

There really isn’t anything in the constitution to bind how states choose electors. They could flip a coin.

The presidential election is done by electors, not by ordinary citizens.

It is possible that states just decide to pick a random one. But if the election is postponed then there is no congressional election either. Doesn't make sense to postpone one and not the other.

The election doesn’t need to be postponed for the presidential election to be snarled.The presidential election doesn’t happen until the electors vote.

No but the electors currently are decided by state elections on the same day as the elections for congress (unless the states decide otherwise). Is the allocation of state electors by state vote is postponed then there is no reason not to also postpone the congressional election.

If the convention of electors is postponed then there really is nothing being done but delaying the declaration of results.

The result was delayed. The election was held. That is a different thing. I am actually talking about DELAYING the elections. As in they will not happen on the designated day, they will happen on a later day.

This is was in response to the Trump tweet where he played into the left's nonsense narrative about him delaying the election by asking the question. Leftists responded with "Guess Pelosi will be president January 20th then!" not realizing her term expires BEFORE Trump's.

That is the whole of the joke.
