I’m going to sound like a Jordan Peterson fag for saying this, but ppl should read “Road to Wigan Pier” by Orwell. He was politically conscious during the 20’s and 30’s and diagnosed the exact discussion you are all having toward the end of the book. The entire book can be skipped save for the last 100 pages. The people that were “socialists” in Europe, were the ones that eventually became “fascists” when that movement (based on the inequality that industrialization created) became an option.

Fascism was called "the third option" or something similar, frankly given we're in a similar situation to what created it I can understand the appeal.
