PSA: This sort of shit is already here. Let me tell you about Jean. Jean was an old friend of the family with a disabled child and husband with dementia, so we were the only support network she had. Jean has been in and out of the hospital for a while due to a chronic health problem and we were always by her side. One evening, my mom walked into the hospital to discover that Jean had been given no dinner, because the doctor ordered no food, nothing to drink, because the doctor had ordered no liquids, and no IV fluids, because the doctor had ordered no IVs. So Jean was slowly dying of thirst, alone in a little hospital room, and no one would do anything. Mom got the doctor in, and he said he would re-evaluate in 2 weeks.
So my mom sat up all night with a pipette and a glass of ice water, so that Jean wouldn't die because of shitty hospital neglect.
Hospitals are useful, doctors are useful, nurses are useful. But never make the mistake of thinking they won't murder your loved ones the second you turn your back.
My sister is a nurse and she vents to me about situations like this that happen all the time. Doctors and other nurses who purposefully neglect the patient so that they die and no longer have to deal with them. Doctors who refuse to see patients if the Wuhan Flu is brought up at all. I didn't trust hospitals before. Now I REALLY don't trust them.

Hospitals exist to make money and doctors/nurses become very jaded overtime resulting in the situation you described
