gun show "loophole" is such bullshit. VERY, VERY few private sales occur at a gun show. All the legal dealers have to run background checks. But, the people that say this, are the same idiots that say you can buy a gun online and have it delivered to your home.
I've done private sales in the past, both as a seller & buyer, but we're talking semantics here. You're saying it's legal, the gun grabbers are calling it a loophole, and we can honestly say, if a background check is not being completed, then it's a discussion.
Let's all be realistic here, how many mass shootings have occurred from a purchase at a gun show.? I'm going to say not one.
probably not. there is a very active black market. and most people who engage in private sales, provide a receipt and get some sort of identification form their buyer. for their own protection, of course.
What is weird is in the UK you could actually do this.
We have a similar system to you if ordering a gun online, with the additional step of needing a firearm license. It would have to be shipped to a registered firearms dealer who you could then pick it up from. However if you turned up at a gun shop and found the gun you wanted you could just take it home right there and then, as long as you had your license with you. The license is the background check, and is valid for 10 years, so the dealer doesn't need to do anything other than check it is legit and record what you bought.
We put the onus on the Police to conduct checks and grant licenses, which makes it an absolute fucking lottery how painless your gun ownership will be, depending on where you live in the country. Yorkshire is brilliant for it, being rural and all, London? Not so much...

I mean, I suppose if you're saying very, very few private sales occur, it's still a sale right?
Yup, and that's where you find the best deals!
Yep. but it is not a "loophole". private sales are legal.

The guns are just laying low, waiting for their chance!
Gun shows are extremely dangerous places...
