I always thought they just used him and Jordan Spieth to try and fill the void of viewers that left when Tiger Woods took a few years off for surgery. "Wait, don't go. We still have good golfers, I promise. We don't want to lose half our viewers just cause one guy left; this guy is just as good. see." Rory isn't a bad golfer by any means; but I never considered him to be that top tier golfer that warranted all the attention he got.
