I wasn't thinking smaller, so the magazine only accepts 2 3/4, it probably also is only chambered for 2 3/4. I was wondering because 3" mags should cycle it no matter what the load. I'm ruthless with my shotgun loading, you get three 3" 00 buck to start and if you're still talking shit, four slugs for follow up.
I just had to look it up. "The Saiga-12 incorporates an adjustable two-position gas system, with "standard" and "magnum" settings for firing 2-3/4" and 3"-length shells respectively."

I've never tried to fit 3" in a Saiga, It probably wont fit in the chamber.

Hmm...I'll have to get my "freind's" Saiga out and try a 3". In any case, 2 3/4 is much more common and is still lots of fun to shoot.
I'm a duck hunter 3" minimum in the blind. So that's all I buy or shoot, unless it's clay pigeons, then I buy the random 2 3/4, 100 pack.
