Lots of people have no idea what a huge deal this is. They don't realize the prices and the selection of what's available. I remember buying a can of shaving cream in 2005 for $1.00. Not $1.99, $1.00, out the door.
Only thing I miss about my crazy Army vet ex-girlfriend.
Only thing I'll admit when my wife is around at least.
Lemme ask you - why do you wear gloves? Fairly recently I bought some for a fairly pussy reason - over the years I’ve fired my mother’s 3032 Tomcat a few times and ended up with bloody hands (it sits right where the slide catches the pad between my thumb and index finger). Hell a couple months ago I went to clean it for her and ended catching my finger (I hate that gun). As a result I have a mental block when racking/releasing any slide - doesn’t matter how much I concentrate on not doing it, I just naturally flinch (wasn’t much of an issue because I usually carry a revolver, but bought a 9 last month). Got some gloves and now I’m probably too cavalier about it. 😊
I simply wear them because your hands get tore up on concrete, vegetation, repeated actions etc. A good pair of gloves can save you some grief, and possibly infection. I don't always wear them, but I'd hate to be without them.
Good answer. Thanks. I honestly had never considered them until I decided to do something about being gun shy (pun intended) about the slides. But I think they’ll be good for much more than preventing, “Owweee, my hands hurt!”
The black bag? Mil-Spec IFAC blowout kit. While serving in combat I learned that most holes can wait if they're not leaking... and not just my own... there may be a pede in need. Too much weight? Too restrictive? You're right, but I can live with that.
The multicam one on your chest. I wouldn't put anything bigger than a map pouch above mags, if anything at all. I fold the middle down on rhodesians without a plate in front.
That chest pouch opens like a little desk. If you look close you'll see my single point strap is integrated into my harness. The rifle hangs nicely on the chest pouch. It's sufficiently padded to prevent my maps and stuff from taking a beating. I work out in it to ensure adjustments have all been made for max comfort... and because I'm getting old and need the extra weight to help me keep off the extra weight.
A desk on your chest reminds me of those old chest mounted laptops for parachuting. It looked like cool guy James Bond shit, but was really impractical.
It's a combo vert grip and bipod.. you may be able to see that if you zoom in. I have it choked back so far because I lost my shoulder in the war and it's easier to support.
I'm not referring to it's placement or use as a grip. But more so that it's attached to a non free floated foregrip. Which means any pressure applied to the bipod or grip will also be applied to the barrel, making accuracy unpredictable.
Swapping out the Magpul foregrip for a free floated rail to mount your bipod/grip will septate it from affecting the barrel and accuracy.
Ahh I see. You're right of course. My M400 is a tack driver midrange, which is what I wanted it for. I use it within 300yrds... and it may be good much further, but I haven't tried. For long range shooting I built a MK14mod2. It's 1moa at 1k. For close range I really like the KSG 12ga.
Nice! Love the M14 platform, even though most don't. Those sage chassis sure are chonky though. I have a M1A Loaded in 6.5 Creedmoor. Not a fan of the stock it comes with (archangel). Planning on building a Bula xm21 based rifle then parting ways with the SA. Wish list build at the moment is: Bula XM21 reciever. Krieger DMR profile barrel. McMillan stock. +/- most the NM upgrades and small bits. Should be a mighty hammer though. Just need to get the right Smith to build it.
I built mine myself with a lot of time and slow spend. It's doable if you're into the study. I've had no issues with sage chassis.. other than the very sensitive fitting of the gas block. Once I got everything fit nicely it's been really reliable and consistent.
Chonky! Gotcha. It is indeed heavy. I got a vintage WWII BAR strap (perfectly preserved and never used) to better carry this thing. An M4 it is not! The good news is that when you're taking the shot, gravity sure helps with stability hahah.
Does that vest have a little codpiece to cover your FutureGenerationGenerators? I've often wondered why people didn't have their essential workers covered.
Yeah it’s a shame more gun suppliers don’t also carry more than the most basic soft armor setups. Maybe they will catch on that there’s a very big demand their not meeting someday.
I think Crye still sells some soft armor panels reminiscent of the IOTV panels, but honestly I was kind of surprised that the Level III armor panels weren't more available commercially.
Honestly in a battlefield those things were always kind of useless. They are just there to catch fragments from explosives / IEDs. They won't stop a bullet. In a state of civil unrest where you're more likely to face pistol-caliber threats they may make more sense though.
No, it's a Sig 1911 Max. I believe it's better than a Kimber, and for less than $1k. A friend was pissed when he fired it after spending $5k on a custom Kimber 1911.
Forgot a thing.. Dr. Sholls gel inserts! I have a pair in my surplus mountain combat boots.. and another pair in my 5.11 pants knees (much better than stock pads). I keep an extra pair in my chest pouch to protect the contents and to replace either my knees or feet.. whichever goes out first. I work out in my kit so the gels come in handy.. and I found out quickly when I served that small comforts = big morale.
Ack! Forgot one more thing. I sometimes keep a six-by-ten camo net rolled up tight and tucked into my back straps. It's very small and light... but it's highly effective concealment. Search amazon for "LOOGU Custom Woodland Camo Netting".
It's a sig 556 titanium quick disco. I think it was like $600 at the time I bought it. I regret not getting the 762 version, as I could have also used it with any caliber smaller than 762. Best to buy one QD silencer to prevent having to buy a lot of tax stamps and doing the long wait. It was worth the purchase because I don't have to wear earpro while I shoot.. but the 5.56 still makes a crack when it breaks the sound barrier. Subsonic 5.56 isn't practical... so it's not "hollywood quiet". I do have a .22 insert for that rifle (CMMG) with some .22 mags. I use hollowpoint frangible 22lr from CCI. You'd be surprised at the damage those little things do. Running .22 through it, it's more quiet than an airsoft rifle and still PK out to 300feet. I hunt coyotes at night to great effect with it using a Sig Echo1 thermal scope.
Ok, so, could you translate those initials for me, please? I understand that CMMG is a type of weapon system, but QD silencer? CCI? lr? PK?
I also do understand that having a silencer on a weapon doesn't make the weapon "hollywood quiet". Imagine Hollywood getting something wrong in a movie...
haha right? CMMG manufactures the .22 insert. QD is Quick Disconnect (just takes a quarter turn to get it off of a special flash hider on the barrel which it attaches to. This is the alternative to fixed silencers which you have to fully thread onto a barrel which has no flash hider on it). CCI is a bullet manufacturer. LR is for .22 Long Rifle ammo (there are several types of 22 round). PK is probability of kill, which is a measurement used in the military. Sorry for all the acronyms... one of the many unpleasant habits I picked up while serving.
Did you know; the Chinese PLA military technology is several decades behind that of the U.S. because they don't have an alphabet. Without an alphabet they can't use acronyms, which drastically adds to the time it takes them to communicate innovative ideas. (jk)
That's where I keep my kit so I can get to it easy. I work out in it often so this is a picture taken from my fitness room. Well one side is fitness room, the other is armory and scuba storage (search for my post last week 'Slatwall of Freedom'). It's a pretty big room that used to be a farm equipment garage. It's about 60x30 with just the garage door sticking out of the side of a big hill.. so it stays nice and cool. It has an interior door which goes into my mancave, which is nice. So, to answer your question; after hanging my plate carrier back up, I set down my coffee cup and took my gloves off then shot the pic with my phone. I thought the Boondock Saints cup was ironic considering the news so I posted it like that. I promise I wasn't making duck lips when I took it... and it seems to me that most pedes have enough ego without some "likes".
You're not trying to outman me are you? I've got a bucket of cock and enough nuthair to weave a Navajo blanket. I'll take you to manschool, boy! (just kidding.. that's a quote from a favorite book.. check out Arisen by Michael Steven Fuchs).
It's a cheap Fireclub brand. The interesting thing is that I have a really nice Atlas Titanium on my MK14, and it's obvious that Fireclub copied the Atlas bipod exactly.. but added a foregrip instead of a swivel lock. It's obviously a lot heavier than my Atlas though... but still pretty light.
Don’t worry, one day you’ll be BRRRRRRRRRTing communists with it.
Just imagining the beautiful red mist of a BLM protest getting atomized.
You can have one!.. in VR! With hyper-realism!

Siiiick thanks!

Ordered mine, should be in on tuesday.
Make sure you train in it. Plate's are heavy and awkward
Left shoulder's flag patch is backwards.
I'm spinning in joy like on The Sound of Music...

I'll allow it.
Imagining a pair of A10s doing a low fly over in that iconic scene. Dot win is getting me riled up today lol

Excuse my ignorance, but what kind of burrito fillings does it have?
That looks like 100% chorizo to me.
What kind of gloves?

Purchased directly from the base exchange website shortly after DJT gloriously signed the ExecOrder opening the BX to all veterans. Go 45!

Thank GEOTUS. And every chick that joins the service is a little not right in the head, but that’s what makes them so lovable.

Thank you for the link. Sending it to a friend.
Tell him to be careful at the lake... things get lost.
When can we take to arms and start exterminating the left? POTUS needs to give the order now
You mean becoming fascists because we hate fascists? I'm not sure if POTUS would approve.
I mean exterminating commies to protect the country from socialist takeover. I think he would definitely approve.
What is that giant pouch for that gets in the way of your mag pull and shooting shoulder?
The black bag? Mil-Spec IFAC blowout kit. While serving in combat I learned that most holes can wait if they're not leaking... and not just my own... there may be a pede in need. Too much weight? Too restrictive? You're right, but I can live with that.

Small advice. Get a free floated handguard if you plan to use that bipod much. Going to get unpredictable stringing with that handguard.
It's a combo vert grip and bipod.. you may be able to see that if you zoom in. I have it choked back so far because I lost my shoulder in the war and it's easier to support.
Thanks for your service pede. Glad to see you still serving.

It would be an honor to serve again alongside a pede as prepared & disciplined as yourself. Great setup.
Thanks brother let's hope it doesn't ever come to that.. but if it does WEEEEEEE
Right. Let’s take off the gloves when it do brother YEEHAWWW lol
Does that vest have a little codpiece to cover your FutureGenerationGenerators? I've often wondered why people didn't have their essential workers covered.
Offense is sometimes the best defense... when you have to protect 'the boys', you tend to have more foreskin in the game.
The big blast panels have kind of gone out of style and necessity.
Maybe they should sell balistic "cups?"
Yeah it’s a shame more gun suppliers don’t also carry more than the most basic soft armor setups. Maybe they will catch on that there’s a very big demand their not meeting someday.
