Very nice, both the quality of the flower and the picture itself. It's hard to get Sunflowers that don't seem like they're already half dead. What kind, if you remember?
Those are Mammoth Sunflowers. They are 10 - 12 feet tall. I planted Skyscraper Sunflowers also. They are over 12 feet tall and are just starting to sprout flower heads. i expect them to get to 14 feet.
Very nice, going for the tall and proud ones. I wish some of the more orange and red ones would get that tall, but it's just not in the genes, I suppose.
I planted some of the red and purplish ones also and some Lemon Queens too. But I got a late start on them and they're only about a foot tall right now.
Very nice, when they come in it'll give it a nice gradient. I used to pass a house on my way to work who had this crazy stepped tulip garden, all different varieties that bloomed at different times of the year worked in and everything, so it was like a different presentation every week. I wish I had more time to garden.
Update - I live in Maryland and my sunflowers are getting pummeled by a tropical storm right now. I just watched my 12 ft tall Skyscraper get ripped from the earth.
No! I'm in Pennsylvania myself, and we got hit a bit too. Power just came back on this morning at about 1. Haven't really had a chance to see the damage, as I had a long, late shift yesterday, but I did notice the local park had become a local lake, again. Trees and stuff are down, too. No doubt I've got some yard and garden recovery work to do.
They're "drop dead" gorgeous. ;)
I actually started growing real flowers this year. I'm proud of my first batch.

Freedom seeds in full bloom!
I'm pretty sure I don't want to be getting any of those....
I enjoy the fragrance of burnt gunpowder.
I'm an HST guy, what's the one on the top right?
Awe!! You shouldnt have!
Consistency is key. And regular practice. Are we still talking about flowers?
