black bears are adorable. I've seen many of them while hiking in the mountains of Colorado, and they are mainly just curious little fellas. They are a nuisance at campgrounds though. Being woken up at 4am with a heavy breathing black bear plodding around my tent is scary. But that's why I carry my .45.
They're hungry. I live in black bear country and the saying is "A fed bear's a dead bear." People put out bird feeders and leave trash out then wonder why bears show up at their door. Game and Fish shows up, tags the bear, and takes it away. They will release it once.
