That was about feral creatures asserting dominance. Can't create, but they can leave a trail of destruction. It's a conscious thing -- it's not like they are oblivious. I had neighbors like that. The garbage was close by but they would prefer to drop their take-out containers on the path near it. I guess that made them feel powerful.
