I just got home from a golf tournament in an undisclosed midwest town. The county that I played in has a mask mandate in all public places. The hotel that I stayed in and every restaurant that I visited had a mask sign on the entrance.
Nobody gave two shits. There were no mask wearers in the hotel, except for the employees. About 90% of the diners that I saw entered without masks. I went to a bar on Friday night with at least 100 people crowded into a small space and the only person wearing a mask was the waitress. The golf course itself had no mask signs. None of the employees wore one and no one said anything to the golfers. They put two teams on each hole and had us sharing carts with maskless strangers. People were high fiving, hugging, slapping each other's shoulders, and generally not giving a flying fuck about Covid. At the end of the day today, they held a banquet where all 80 teams ate from a buffet in the same room, sharing tables.
We had a blast. I had no guilt whatsoever about going maskless. I'm not sick so no one is getting any virus from me. The drunk dudes we got paired with today weren't sick, either. (I imagine if they were the sheer amount of fireballs they drank would have killed just about anything.)
Stop worrying about this stuff. If you have a reason to protect yourself, then of course you should. But if you're healthy then just live without fear. You can commit slow suicide by hiding or you can get out there and MAGA.
Just a thought from your uncle Bubba.
