since the earth rotates, every latitude has the same night sky, right?

6
CapnKek 6 points ago +6 / -0

Fake news.

magastrophysicist 3 points ago +3 / -0
  • Observers on a line of constant latitude will observe the same night sky on any day of the year.
  • Observers on a line of constant longitude will observer drastically different skies -- those at opposite poles will not have any stars in common.

ModernKnight 2 points ago +2 / -0

Maybe, but ours is the best.

The bear. The burrito. The frog. The wall. The train which hath no breaks.

Whimpy13 15 points ago +15 / -0

Let me tell you the tale of the Frog, the Bear, the Burrito and the Wall.

"I could fuckin' kill for a Burrito." said the Bear.

"Me too." said the Frog.

"Get on and we'll go to Burrito land." said the Bear.

The Frog jumped up on the Bear and the two frens set of towards Burrito land.

After a few hours they reached the Wall.

It was a HUGE Wall. The biggliest. No way to climb it.

So they went through the Gate because they're not a bunch of fuckin' illegals and had the best Burritos of their lives.

The End.

"Stellarium is a free open source planetarium for your computer. It shows a realistic sky in 3D, just like what you see with the naked eye, binoculars or a telescope."

https://stellarium.org/

Stellarium's nice. Outdoors I use SkyMap on my phone to find the constellations.

CraniometricSunray 6 points ago +6 / -0

Only the best skies in America

Space Force .............. TO THE STARS!

MAGA_conservative 3 points ago +3 / -0

Brothers get a pair of binoculars and stare at the night sky.

You will be amazed.

The High Frontier by Gerard O' Neill

Eventually, the ability to view directly in space to get that unparalleled view. Still good here.

Somewhere in the sky, I'm sure there are stars that form the McEnany constellation.........

2
Justicefourall 2 points ago +2 / -0

Bears, Beat, Biden....

2
Nikola_S1 2 points ago +3 / -1

The constellations do not look like this at all -_-

3
user6395 3 points ago +3 / -0

Heh, most of the modern constellations were fixed by a frenchman, I think. They were at the forefront of science during that time, and lucked into it. ExBrooklyn suggestion is good, install Stellarium and in it you can get constellations of many other cultures.

1
AceOfTrumps 1 point ago +1 / -0

the names of the constellations mean big bear & little bear

2
Nikola_S1 2 points ago +2 / -0

The Little Bear is drawn upside-down, and the Big Dipper is just the tail of the Great Bear.

1
AceOfTrumps 1 point ago +1 / -0

whether upside down or not is subjective. I would say the big dipper is just the head :|

1
Nikola_S1 1 point ago +1 / -0

No it isn't. It is upside-down which you would have known if you ever saw it.

1
AceOfTrumps 1 point ago +1 / -0

sorry, thought you were talking about the bear overlay
