Heh, most of the modern constellations were fixed by a frenchman, I think. They were at the forefront of science during that time, and lucked into it. ExBrooklyn suggestion is good, install Stellarium and in it you can get constellations of many other cultures.

The Little Bear is drawn upside-down, and the Big Dipper is just the tail of the Great Bear.

whether upside down or not is subjective. I would say the big dipper is just the head :|

No it isn't. It is upside-down which you would have known if you ever saw it.
