My argument is that mild bullying is really important. I'm not talking beatings or constant verbal abuse but sometimes those with ideas outside of the norm need to be "reminded" that they aren't that important. 40 years ago no one would have claimed to be a tranny in school or their life would have been hell. Now kids are claiming that just for the attention and special benefits they receive like everyone praising them for their "bravery".
But most bullying is based on an evolutionary social instinct to "protect the tribe" by hazing or casting out those who might weaken it. It's an in-built intelligence, not unlike pulling a hand from a hot fire, and most people romanticizing or aggrandizing their self-worth "because" they were bullied could not be more wrong.
