The Flu vaccine is actually pretty legit. I've had multiple flu shots and they suck for the first hour or so, but I've almost always seen the benefit, even years out.

They're also under a ton of scrutiny so you know they're 99.999% safe. All healthcare providers take it, the elderly take it, and so do the military. Worst case scenario (because I don't like needles) I just look at it as the thing standing between me and a decent pay increase.

I am 71 and have never gotten a flu shot. I have also never gotten the flu. Watching people stand in line for the Swine Flu vaccine and then dropping over dead really made an impression on me when in my 20’s. But most young people probably dont’t know about that disaster.

I'm 50 and have never had a flu vaccination. I've had the flu a couple times but so what. I'll take getting sick and gamble on my immune system doing what it does. I'm not injecting anything into this body except pure MAGA.

55 here...same, never had the vaccine and never had the flu.

I would argue that's an example of rushed testing and approval.

Almost every current vaccine doesn't have those risks, especially the flu shot.

You can also look up doctors observations here: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/

That's completely anecdotal and practically worthless from a data and a statistics standpoint.

Flu vaccines tend to improve overall resistance to the disease in most cases, usually making symptoms much less severe or preventing it all together.

Depends what exact mix they use as it evolves so damn much, sometimes they're more right in some years than others. But you'd have to be an idiot to think that vaccines never work.

The flu shot is a scam. I worked the ER 20 years. At least half, if not more, patients with a positive flu test had the vaccine. When big pharma admits that they didnt get it right for the last flu season, you should be skeptical.

I get them things for free and my workplace is full of people who go to work sick.

To me it's worth it. Even if they get it wrong. It costs nothing and possibly prevents me from that "fun".

Its not about wearing a mask. I wear one every year during flu season. Its about submitting to government control. Today its a mask, tomorrow they're entering your home without a warrant...just ask Australia.

Nothing is "free". At a basic level, a vaccine is diverting your immune system's attention towards whatever's being vaccinated against, leaving you more vulnerable other illnesses: https://www.disabledveterans.org/2020/03/11/flu-vaccine-increases-coronavirus-risk/

I continue to suffer ill effects from vaccines I had decades ago. You think you're getting a "free lunch", but I imagine that's because few people acknowledge, let along discuss, the real risks of vaccination. Best of luck to you.

If you are suffering I'll effects from a vaccine, please speak to a doctor and get that data recorded. That can aid class action lawsuits and getting vaccines removed from use before they harm others.

Vaccines temporarily divert your immune system, and people with compromised immune systems are always except from them. This is typically known unless someone has never been to a doctor before.

Best of luck to you.

I really hate throwing around "shill" since so many mindless people use it when they are met with an opinion they don't like, but either you have your head as deep in your ass as it can go, or you're a total shill. Who do you think is "scrutinizing" any vaccines? The same people that are lying to us all and have been for decades upon decades.

It's not difficult for one person to say something is true and threaten to harm those who dissent, such as all the doctors right now that are being fired for saying HQC is safe. How can you possibly think that this situation is unique? If you are really that dumb, it's just further proof that they can impose whatever they want without question because in no-time we end up with people like you who think it's "legit' because it's become the norm.

I'm finding it increasingly difficult to deal with the absurd comments on this site. We're all fucking doomed with amount of smooth brains and shills. How the hell are we supposed to win when so many stupid people exist?

First off, this couldn't happen on reddit, so yay .win because conversations.

Secondly, apologies in advance for typos and limited links as I'm answering this on my phone (my laptop is still packed away).

I think we can both agree the medical field has gotten politicized and really betrayed the trust of the public at large. Just as the surgeons who worked on Reagan after he was shot said, politics didn't matter "today we're all Republicans" and that's how it should be, focused on the patient, not politics.

For the flu vaccine, the base elements stay the same but the strains are chosen based upon estimated mutations in the hopes they choose the dominant strain for the season. Unfortunately this doesn't always work out. We live in a free society where people with lesser flu virus strains are free to not take care of their bodies and allow the flu strain they have to flourish and mutate. But that's 'Murica, if we want freedom to live our lives how we see fit, that means everyone is free to live how they want. That just introduces factors that are not easily anticipated.

Who scrutinizes vaccines? For the USA, that's the FDA and with clinical trials, paperwork, lawyers, etc, that'll cost upwards of 2 Billion dollarydoos.

How do we know if the FDA did their job? Read the medical articles from doctors in the field. These are easy to look up and find using: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/ Which is also great at finding studies to prove HCQ works, cloth masks are quite useless, and certain vaccines (anthrax vaccine, cough cough) have bad side effects.

Speaking from my own mandatory experience, I have yet to experience any negative effects from the myriad of vaccines I've been given and TBH, I'm thankful I haven't had to deal with the crap some other people were dealing with where I've worked, thanks specifically to those vaccines (people near me had some of the stuff I was vaccinated for).

depends when you get it. thing is with flu vax, it's yearly at least as pertains to the specific strain it targets. If it mutates between years, that flu vax you got last year likely won't protect you. it'll change enough the antibodies won't be effective.

Yeah, it's a not fun event every year, but it's worth it.

I'm a year late at the moment, hoping to blitz it with my upcoming pre-offsite work vaccinations.
