Quinine is a less safe variant of chloroquine which is a less safe variant of hydroxychloroquine. You would need to drink gallons of tonic water every day to even approach an effective dose and it would come with all the side effects that were eliminated over the last half century with the development of HCQ.
One thing they haven't brought the hammer down on yet is the 220mg Zinc Sulfate pills you can still get over the counter for daily use. But who knows, maybe that and a 2L bottle of tonic water a day helps? IANAD.
