Without the teacher kids would be learning things like math and science and it would be impossible to brainwash them to think the polar caps will be gone by 2013 if we don't give Al Gore a couple hundred million dollars.
But seriously - every parent should pull their kids out until schools re-open. If everyone did it, the entire public education system would collapse. Every teacher across the country would be making coffee and working registers - which is where they belong at this point.
Should pull their kids out and keep them out. IMO. And demand states return the taxes (I think our failed schools account for something like 50% of a state's budget).
Homeschooled kids do better and learn faster. They get better jobs and make more money.
I was home schooled growing up and I'd rather have my daughter-law home schooled, but her mom and I both need to have jobs because of the overpriced demotaxes
An issue that our country will have to come to terms with one way or another.
Instead of giving your locally assigned no-choice government school $15k per kid, attach that money to the child to be used however. Hell, cut it by 2/3 and give the kid/parent $5k. Solutions will present themselves naturally when the money is on the table for the taking. Someone in your neighborhood will "babysit" for half that $5k per kid.
Detroit is now 50% illiterate. That would change practically over night, and the "schools" would become ghost towns if every kid had a $5k voucher available and all you have to do for it is pass some basic standardized testing.
For about thirty bucks/month even idiots can homeschool their kids. The lessons are already planned out and printed.
Some of the dumbest people I knew growing up were my high school teachers.
work all night, I work all day, to pay the bills I have to pay
Ain't it sad
And still there never seems to be a single penny left for me
That's too bad
In my dreams I have a plan
If I got me a wealthy man
I wouldn't have to work at all, I'd fool around and have a ball
Money, money, money
Must be funny
In the rich man's world
Money, money, money
Always sunny
In the rich man's world
Aha aha
All the things I could do
If I had a little money
It's a rich man's world
It's a rich man's world
They'll still demand payment, and probably get it because their unions are so in bed with the Democrats. Being a teacher is such an easy job, sorry not sorry. Summer off, like 10 weeks of vacation during the school year, just a fucking joke.
In virtual school my kid was done with her homework within 30 minutes every day. And half the homework was YouTube videos, or poll questions just to make sure you're at least pretending to do the work.
Federal unemployment benefits are done-zo last I heard. My wife lost her job in early April and has been looking for a new one and she was making about the same as she was working with the federal $600/week, but now she's making far less with just unemployment.

I don't even have kids and I still have to pay property taxes, so I don't think that'll be happening anytime ever, lol.

A lot of parents are really, really, fucking stupid. There's no way they could effectively homeschool their children- even with tutors.
And our schools are really really bad and really really over-priced.
Kids can teach themselves with a curriculum and an internet connection and basic standardized testing.

No, they'd be on unemployment making more than they did teaching. (Coffee shops are going under left and right, too.)
teachers are actually getting their full salary.

Bongino talks about this - the teacher union, usually politically savvy, is shooting them selves in the foot.
