They were talking specifically about demanding businesses to let you in. That does, indeed, make you an asshole.

I'm not saying I endorse any of the crazy bullshit that's flying around about Winnie the Flu, but people have a right to their property, as the sign says, and as the OP says in the title.

This is something that has bothered me greatly about this. People don’t understand that ANY business had the right to demand you wear a mask even before this bullshit started. The only requirement is that they require it from all customers. Walmart could require that you must walk on your hands in order to shop there, as long as they required it from everyone. It would, however, be a horrible business decision as people wouldn’t shop there anymore.

I absolutely loathe the mask mandate. But businesses do not have to let you in. You can say you have a medical issue and that they cannot ask what it is due to law.... but they can say “shop somewhere else” or “shop our online store”.

But this is where you vote with your dollar, and shop at stores that don’t strictly enforce these bullshit rules, and avoid stores that do unless you absolutely need something from there.

I agree with basically every word of this except

The only requirement is that they require it from all customers.

That is the law. News flash, the law isn't exactly very famous for being just, and less so for being followed. This one is neither.

If you are a communist, Goya has as much right to boycott you, and ban you from their property, as you have to boycott them. Just because they boycott you (Say, by requiring you to pay an upfront $5,000,000,000 fee to enter), does not mean they now also have to boycott all their other customers.

Except Businesses DO NOT have such a right to mandate masks in the United States. The Americans With Disabilities Act is a federal law that prevents this sort of thing.

Problem is business aren’t free to set their own mask policy. I bet if there were no policy to force business to require customers and employees to wear masks she’d be one of those people demanding such a policy. So, her advocating for the rights of business owners ends when they decide against a mask requirement.

Feigning advocacy for rights (only when they suit you) = virtue signaling

Not trying to be a dick but I think you're wrong about the law. If a business owner also owns the property, they are allowed to decide who can be there or not be there. They can't legally discriminate based on race, religion, etc. but they can discriminate based on other things, like articles of clothing. For example, "No shirt, no shoes, no service".

Say you have asthma, and that wearing a mask is dangerous and it limits your ability to breath..They cannot discriminate based upon a medical condition..

I agree.

What I meant by “ business aren’t free to set their own mask policy“ is that local governments are requiring business owners to enforce the local mask policy, whether business owners want to or not.

Pretty much this. Draconian, authoritarian measures implemented to control business under the ruse of a public health emergency statute that gives Governors complete control.

People need to vote these idiots out.

My state has a medical condition exemption. People still piss about it. Honestly I've started reporting businesses to the ADA for refusal of service based on medical condition. I don't make a scene, I don't cause a stink. I make sure I get their full name, business name, and address and then submit it to the ADA. So far I've reported a hospital and two restaurants. Maybe something happens, maybe it doesn't. But it works for me.

I agree with the sign and with your counter-example. I don't wear masks but I respect the rights of business owners to dictate dress code on their property.

I just don't go to those businesses.

Have you ever seen a person not wearing a mask do the screaming? I've only ever seen the mask-nazis doing the screaming.

Methinks they project-eth too much....

This meme is incorrect because there are many places that are mandating masks outside or in places that have nothing at all to do with private businesses. Also, many businesses are only mandating masks based on state requirements or the threat of lawsuit.

So this is HARDLY the free market and private businesses deciding on their own to do any of this shit. That is actually just moronic if they think that. Also, I don't think businesses do have a right not to let you in. They have a right to refuse service.. but let you in? I'm not sure they have that right, especially if the use of force is involved. They have a right to not serve you and they can ask you to leave, but that's about it as far as the "rights" of businesses go.
