The only fault I can find here is that they didn’t clear clearly indicate that medical help was coming. But that may just not have been captured in the footage. On the flip side, there must be a law about putting medical staff in harms way when an arrested person is actively resisting

I don't think that was one of his buddies. I think it was just an intelligent and concerned bystander trying to help the guy out.
The biggest issue I saw was the one Officer's inability to find a pulse but then not doing anything about it.
