It's sad because I genuinely think Basketball is the greatest game ever. Such a simple concept, and incredibly difficult to master. I guess there is still college basketball, which is better anyway.
I’d argue Basketball is actually seeing the decline of height as the primary factor.
It was definitely true early on and up to the 80s. Why? Because in general the talent was not at skillful on an individual basis. The game relied on team play passing the ball for an open shot (the skill came down to the team and the plays they ran), but that shot was almost always a layup. The ball movement and player movement was always to get someone a path to the basket.
Tall people simply had an advantage with this style of play because their reach and height allowed greater accuracy up close or even if they had to go a little further out, such as when the hook shot began catching on. But most importantly it came at defending the basket as well, because that’s where everyone went to get their shots.
In general jump shots were actually pretty rare, because the risk was greater and people didn’t really train themselves or alter the play styles to mitigate this risk. Jump shots didn’t really become a standard common mundane thing until the 80s (maybe late 70s) onward, and they exploded in the 90s.
Once jump shots became popular, it allowed smaller players to score the most points and compete with the big guys because they no longer had to fight against a wall at a singular point. They could run circles and shoot from anywhere and the tall guys couldn’t do anything because it would be goal tending. And we have seen a change in the record books for the types of guys who hold the records once this style of play was adopted. We went from guys like Mikan and Chamberlin to Jordan and Kobe to now even smaller guys like Curry (although he’s still 6’3”) and Isiah Thomas Whose like 5’8”!! (before he flamed out)
So we have still seen the same evolution away from tall guys continue today with the adoption of 3 point shot becoming so heavy in the last 10 years. As people continue to hone and develop their individual skill at shooting the basketball, and the further away they can do it, the less it matters about height. It’s not uncommon for players to pull up from just past half court and drain a shot. Defensive schemes (as they are now) mean literally nothing in that scenario, and height is just as worthless.
If genetically enough tall people who can also run around as fast as Stephen Curry and can shoot like him, come to existence, then I’d say we’d go back to height being the primary factor. But for the foreseeable future, and as long as the 3 pt line still exists, I think it’s just jump shooters
Isiah Thomas is 5’8”. My point is play style is changing where size doesn’t matter.
There were smaller guys in the past like Mugsy, but they were limited playing in the confines of the then system. You’d never see a 5 foot dude leading a team in the old style. But now with the new style we can see it.
He was the first Men's Basketball coach at the University of Kansas. And the only coach (out of only eight coaches in 122 years) to have a losing record.
He's buried in Lawrence, KS.
His original, type-written Basket Ball Rules are on display at the University's Allen Fieldhouse.
"A popular game he often played was called “duck on a rock.” He and his friends would gather near a large stone at the blacksmith’s yard near the one-room schoolhouse they attended. A rock — called “the duck” — was placed on the stone while one person acted as a guard. The others stood 10–15 feet away, trying to displace it from its perch by hurling rocks of their own. It wasn’t long before the kids realized that trying to throw the rock directly past the guard like a baseball wasn’t effective. Instead, they began lobbing it high in the air, arcing over the guard. The rules of the game — and the development of the lob shot — stuck with Naismith and later became the basis of basketball."
But but but but but but but but... the Kangz invented baskets. Well they told their bitches to weave them some while they out there mining Vibranium for their secret African sci-fi tech.
The Kangz also didn't vote and all that faggot shit. Dude who murdered the other dude became the next Kangz.
I know some of his descendants (which still bear his family name). Good strong pedes (along with devout Christians and REALLY tall). Ironically although he invented the game, he has the worst records as a coach for University of Kansas.
Bishop Larry Gaiters says that it was invented by slave owner Willie Lynch (Ref: the Oxford Dictionary of the Trans Atlantic Slave Trade) . If Slaves left the plantation, they would chopped of the slaves balls and dried them out, then try to throw them into baskets???
If you pedes have time, listen to this podcast. This guy brings up how the origins of basketball was pretty damn grousome. https://youtu.be/lgjNXfCF-hc
Also, a Christian game.
Invented at a YMCA venue, by a Christian chaplain.
A no-tattoos game as well.
Put that peach basket up on the wall, ten feet up.
Don't know where the peaches go, someone can eat them, or maybe bake a pie?
Thar was back when the YMCA was a Christian organization and not a front for alphabet social clubs.
I’m about ready to start an organization called the George S Patton Center for American Traditionalism.
If this is your first night at GPCAT you have to fight.
NO! That society is racist, you racist!

I think we can agree with Tim Pool when he says Liberalism is a mental disorder with the facts to prove it !
Did he have studies demonstrating it? Tim does in that video
Jesus Christ. Tim Pool! Tim Pool! Tim Pool! Nobody knew shit, or could quantify it before Tim Pool!
How can we play games when there are peaches to eat!?
play a game where the winner eats peach cobbler?

In a factory down town
Invented by James Naismith, popularized and refined by the YMCA and the US Army.
To see the "progress" of America, one only need look at the fall of his hometown, the once-great City of Springfield. Liberalism is a cancer.
I tend to think of LIBERALISM as a parasite, moving from host to host, without the means to survive without a host.
Right. It pisses me off how they stole the word "liberals". I never use this term. I refer to them as "leftists", "socialists", or "Marxists".
I've said this often. I'm a 18th century Liberal, a 19th century rebel, a 20th century conservative an a 21st century Trumpist. And I haven't changed.
His Canadian hometown is still a beautiful homogenous and safe town to live in. Liberalism mostly only effects the larger city’s in canada.
Cultural appropriation!
It's much easier to lift the things that white people didn't invent.
And left's be frank....
White men
Yep. You are all appropriating a Canadian invented sport.
How dare you.
Was he a legal immigrant? Born in Canada and invented the game in Springfield?
The details are not important. What's important is the Reeeeeeeeee.
The same year he immigrated he invented thus he was still a canadian citizen. He actually invented it in 14 days. Canadians are smart as fuck.
Then why do they live in Canada?
I keed I keed. Canada is lovely.
<Cough> hockey is American <cough>
Lol what.
Believed to be originated in UK from stick and ball games and first organize game was in Montreal.
Yeah. He moved to FREEDOM.
And Canada just won it's first championship.
Yea we have never given a shit.
The reason it was invented was to keep people out of trouble in a non physical altercation sport. He invented basketball at the ymca.
Canada plays hockey because it requires far more physical and mental power. And basketball is fucking boring. 100 points a team? Lol “defense”

So not a fan of every sport? I agree with you that it's tilted for big guys, but every sport outside of maybe soccer which doesn't count is like that.
Soccer is probably the sport where the genetic counts the least, you're right. There are players of all size.
Boxing does need good genetic though. A long wingspan is a great advantage, that's why blacks are more..... Represented

He also invented it so the girls had a game to play where there was no tackling and harsh contact.
Also a Canadian, talk about cultural appropriation guys. Lol.
So basketball is a legacy of the White patriarchy? Cancel it now!
That was basketball. What we see today is African tree hockey.
Also Canadian.
Factoids for Naismith...

He also invented the football helmet.
RCJHKU!
Been to his grave, it's a beautiful spot. He also founded the KU chapter of the fraternity that just about every male member of my family has pledged.
You forgot the best factoid of all - He was Canadian!
Dancing BLACK Man Gymnastics Ball

Back when kids threw rocks at each other for the fun of it and nobody cared.

That's Dwight Schrute with a mustache.
All sports are dead to me. They all have knelt with BLM a commie terrorist group.
Fuck'em. It is sad to see things that were never even political not even 5 years ago fall to the socialist infection.
I know some of his descendants (which still bear his family name). Good strong pedes (along with devout Christians and REALLY tall). Ironically although he invented the game, he has the worst records as a coach for University of Kansas.
He culturally appropriated basketball, because he stole it from the Mayans! I say we bring back Mayan rules for basketball to right the wrong!
OMG that white supremacist actually used a cotton picking basket! [email protected]@!
Great game that's currently played by a bunch of fucking kneelers
Yep, and given enough time now, the 13% have fucked this game up also.
Lol should try to get the NBA to dissolve because of b-ball’s racist slave past
Fuck the NBA. BLM killed it.
Truth
Cool - I live a very short distance from Almonte - Ontario.. where this dude was a highschool teacher.
'Supposedly' he invented it while he was teaching in the USA...
Just like you guys stole Apple Pies.
