I'm MAGA but I consider myself fairly capable of taking my bias out of the equation. I also happen to have a job that puts me right in the thick of these George Floyd kinds of incidents pretty much daily. They happen all the time, it's just that usually people don't die.
So, with all that being said I'm going to make a pariah out of myself here and stick to my guns that Floyd was a PoS but so was Chauvin. I never thought Chauvin committed first degree murder, but he's definitely guilty of negligent behavior. We call what Floyd was doing "Incarceritis" but even if we know people are bullshitting an EMS assignment is dispatched early to check the guy out and he's given the benefit of the doubt. Just because you're a criminal doesn't mean an officer can deny you medical attention. It also doesn't mean this use of force technique was used appropriately.
I know people on this website hate the idea that simultaneously they can both be bad but take it from someone in the industry - this isn't the rack you wanna hang your coat on. It isn't gonna change minds.
You're spot on, man. Once I found out the kind of guy Floyd was, my mind basically said:
"So some douchebag, who happens to be a white cop, killed another douchebag, who happened to be black. No one should die that way, even if he is a douchebag."
Nobody supported Chauvin. Not anyone I saw here, or anywhere else. This at least gives some context and blows the media and BLM narrative out of the water.
Its not so much the "cops did the right thing" as "we were lied to about what really happened."
