But 2 + 2 = 10........................in base 4. Ha ha I got you.

But 10 in base 4 is...4. Yes?

No. In Base 4, you only have three numbers available to make your values: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4.

Once you hit a total of 4, the next value to the left increases by one.

(assuming base 10 value on the left side being calculated to base 4 on the right)

0 + 1 = 1 base 4 0 + 2 = 2 base 4 0 + 3 = 3 base 4 0 + 4 = 10 base 4 0 + 7 = 13 base 4 0 + 8 = 20 base 4 0 + 12 = 30 base 4 0 + 13 = 31 base 4

0 + 16 = 100 base 4

(I wrote a lot more but decided to stop at this point).

In base four, you only have 0 1 2 3.

In base four, 2 + 2 = 10

In base ten, 2 + 2 = 4

In base two, 10 + 10 = 100

In base three, 2 + 2 = 11

In base one, || + || = ||||

The point is this: 10(base4) == 4(base10) == 100(base2) == 11(base3) == ||||(base1). They're all the same equation. And none of those will ever give you a way to come up with the value 5
