In base four, 2 + 2 = 10 In base ten, 2 + 2 = 4 In base two, 10 + 10 = 100 In base three, 2 + 2 = 11 In base one, || + || = |||| The point is this: 10(base4) == 4(base10) == 100(base2) == 11(base3) == ||||(base1).
