So the mask isn't 100% effective, but it does help.
Quarantining, on the other hand, is 100% effective. You can't spread a virus if you are locked up at home and away from other people. The virus is not going to ring up an Uber and travel from your house to the nearest restaurant.
This is why some states have mandatory quarantines for those that test positive.
The masks are for people that might have the virus. The quarantining is for people that definitely have the virus.
I was told the mask is to stop the spread of asymptomatic carriers which is no different than symptomatic carriers. What’s good for the goose is good for the gander.
