The amount of fentanyl he was on would have severely depressed his respiratory system. A fast heartbeat+ slow respiration=death due to fluid building up in the lungs. Add a bunch of clogged arteries into the mix, you re toast.

The shortness of breath, respiratory depression, agitation, combativeness, mental confusion - all signs of an OD. Ever been arrested? Sure seems like a punishment to me. There are consequences for run ins with law enforcement. Being placed in a state of detention is one of them. Even if you aren't formally charged with a crime you were punished by being detained by police. Presumption of innocence doesn't supersede probable cause.
