Hard to make the case that Floyd was "a good man" when he is clearly resisting arrest. At BEST Floyd was resisting because he was high as a kite and acting irrationally.
Also, him asking to be placed on the ground clears us the entire issue about why he was on the ground in the first place. Much of the anger revolved him being on the ground, with a knee to his head. Well...he asked to be on the ground, and he was resisting.
Lastly, he was screaming about not being able to breathe before the officers ever had any real hand on him. My two cents: he was likely having a heart attack induced by the psychological stress of the event. He would have died that day, irrespective of being on the ground.
