Amen. Nothing has done more to damage mental health en masse than the insistence on global empathy pushed by the advertising execs in charge of broadcast "news".

Human beings are not equipped to stay in a constant state of vicarious fear, anger, and sadness over things that we wouldn't even know had happened if no one told us.

Worry about your own problems and leave everyone else to theirs.

Back in 2006 my neighbor was bugging me about taking my wife to go see that Will Smith movie he did with his son. He would not stop talking about how good it was.

I was kidding around when I said this, but by the time I finished saying it I realized that I had just stumbled across a truth I wish I had always known: "I have enough people in my life I have no choice but to give a shit about. Why should I spend money on having to give a shit about the lives of people who don't even exist?"

that movie was fucking terrible. will smith's son was literally not convincing playing the role of will smith's son.

It's doomscroll, and you're right, it's horrible for the human psyche.

I've been trying to redpill my fiance and she doesn't like talking about politics because of doomscroll. she says that it's not good for her health. While I agree, after I did some thinking about it I came to the realization that I can handle the news better than she can because ultimately I'm on the winning side. I see the bad things happening but I have righteous indignation because I'm not part of the group that's perpetrating these bad things. I also see the good things that happen, and since Trump is winning it's not all doom and gloom for me in the news.

Just an observation I had that I thought might help others dealing with loved ones who have yet to be red pilled.

America First in all things.

Absolutely but when something goes boom over there, you have to also take stock and assess, since it may become an issue that affects Americans as well.

I think in this case we just have an industrial accident, so no real potential blowback for the US or our troops.

Police are aiding the mobs by arresting law-abiding citizens for mask violations.

Don't want to be a hater, but yea I do care. There is nothing I can objectively do about it but I can still sympathize and take a minute to care about death and destruction against innocent people. Any life is precious and that is the same battle we are fighting here.

Yeah I don’t care about Muslims exploding each other

From wiki: Briefly, Christians are 52% of Beirut, Muslims 47%, and 1% others.

How many hezbollah operatives were killed? If the number is one or more im not too worried about the explosion.

Why the fuck should I care about Israeli's enemies?

UCLA_freethinker 1 point ago +1 / -0

I never mentioned israel. Hezbollah, like all radical islamic groups hates the big satan. Remember the beruit barracks bombing dummy?

HazelHen 1 point ago +1 / -0

Yeah, why the fuck were we there. What if Lebanon had troops stationed in the US?

They hate the big Satan because we keep getting involved in their shit. Start with Operation Ajax and get back with me.

Mark my words - this rioting will go down as the biggest domestic terrorist attack in the history of America.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. While I agree that we ought to prioritize our own country, takes like this feeds into the "conservatives have no empathy" narrative that leftists love to drum up.

Granted, everyone will forget about the explosion in a few days if the legacy media can't figure out a way to blame Orange Man for it

I agree that their "empathy" is a lie. However, I'm raising a question of optics, not the reality of leftist ideology. We're trying to win over the historically-ignorant normies in the center and we should be wary about doing the Left's job for them.

the sooner people stop caring what happens in places which have no impact on them and which they will do nothing about, the better

Don't you know that people will change their profile pictures on social media to the Lebanese flag for a week?! That solves literally all the problems!
