Latino here. We don’t even like OTHER Latinos. Mostly, it’s all in good fun but yeah you’d think we’re all the same - far from it. Skin color. Accent. Hair. Height. Belt buckle. Boots. Heh heh. They will call you out and your mama.

Romanian here. The generation of Romanians who ran from communism and came to America (my parents) also hate everyone including other Romanians.

My parents don't mistreat people based on race, it's more their viewpoint. I think in part because they grew up rough as fuck, came here and worked their asses off 10+ hours a day, 7 days a week, even today despite the house being paid off (at age 55 with just my father working and mom taking care of 10 kids). So basically in comparison, everyone is a lazy fuck compared to him... Including me and all my siblings lol and he ain't wrong.

The issue is with incompatible cultures.

However, regular international travel and communication are only relatively recent innovations.

As a result, up until only a century ago, race and culture were explicably connected, as information could only travel as far as the person carrying it. So different genes and ideas were both relatively localised as they propagated at the same speed and frequency. They became intertwined.

It's only been the last 80 years, so 4 generations or post-WW2, since global mass movements of people and information across borders started. Only 1 generation since the digital revolution accelerated it.

This has not been enough time to delink culture from race in the large part as people still get most of their identity from their parents. So a person's race is still a decent marker of their potential culture.

Hating black people is bad. Hating toxic elements of black culture is fine. The problem is that both still come often together. Hence why people can have legitimate aversions to black people, because it's actually the darker elements of black culture they want to minimise their chance of exposure to.
