I never understood one thing about countries like US and Australia. Why is there not enough push into assimilating legal migrant population ? It is a really important part in keeping soceities stable. You gotta ensure that people know what is expected when the immigrate.
Right now all I see is unlimited freedom and hardly any social responsibilities. So much of these problems can be solved if you get rid of the agencies that work with new migrants, because they all seem to have their own agenda.
I don't know when it all changed.I came to the US legally in 2001 as foreign military spouse of born and bred American.My husband had to sign financial responsibility affidavit which stated that I was not allowed to collect any welfare in the US for 5 yrs.The emigration visa fee was about $1200 including medical examination,chest x-ray(to see if no tuberculosis),and blood work.Had to fill out about 20 pages interview which included questions if I or any family member ever belonged to communist party or nazi organization,financial records,family history ,etc.The whole process took about 3 months.We were very young couple and just had a baby;it was hard to come up with $1200 on junior enlisted pay.We had to borrow the money from my mother in law,lol.It really pisses me off ,when illegals just walk across the border and demand shit.But what boils my blood the most are ungrateful fucking immigrants who live here and bitch about America.In what other country can you do that?Nowhere.Everywhere else people will tell you to gtfo back to your country but in America somehow that' racist.
I came to US in 1997 on H1B1 and lived there for almost a decade. I can tell you that even a whole lot of legal immigrants who got their lifes on track only because of the immigration, still bitch about America. That makes my blood even more boil. These are educated people, many of them highly technical, and still rubbish at heart.
One of the argument about illegal immigrants has been that they dont hurt anyone. They just help the economy. You know whom they hurt, in addition to locals who lose their jobs? Legal immigrants who actually worked hard to come and contribute to America and loved America, butnow cannot get a GC because of all the illegals.
