So I’ve been in talks to see what options are available for me in the military. I got a pretty high score on a practice asvab never having taken one before. Now they’re wanting me to get in person character references of police, teachers, or judges. I’ve been out of school or 4 years and I know no teachers. I know no police officers and judges. They said I could do old bosses, but all of my old bosses have moved out of town. I find it kind of crazy that I have to have specific in person references. I’m not going to drive around Georgia all day begging people to sign something. The recruiter was even saying my mom could ask her coworkers ( who don’t know me) to lie on a reference for me. It’s kind of putting me off from the whole deal I don’t know anyone in my area who would sign something like this for me.

Retired Air Force here.... They may have something specific in mind for you for a job. Do whatever they require. The more the better.
They need a new dog up there, I hear
Pretty sure they will never contact them. I dont remember having to do this when I joined years ago. Oh yea, wanna know some secret squirrel shit? Recruiters are preofessional liars, they will say anything to get people in. But dont let this put you off, most lies are just them painting a dream world for you. Do what you have to do to join, serving is one of the best things I have ever done.
They do.....
And not all recruiters a liars. I took pride in selling, yes selling, a way a life, the intangibles, not a "job" or college money.

That would not be addressed until just before graduation from Boot Camp/Basic. Background Investigations (BI) require a lot of resources and time.

Maybe do a ride along a few times at a local PD?
Practice ASVAB is worthelss to gauge, I had kids get a project 90+ QT score, take the test and have total brain farts. In order to re-test, I believe you have to wait 30 days or longer, cannot recall for sure.

Recruiters’ one job is to get you in. My problem with that was they told me to say I’ve never had an operation and I had 3 operations in my life up to that point (18 years old). I just kept thinking about sometime down the road I get dishonorably discharged for lying when I was recruited. I felt like either that or they’d use it against me to get me to do what they want to do. It was so off-putting that I wound up not going in after passing all the physical and written tests at the base.
Your recruiter(s) were assholes if they told you to lie.

They did and I really feel like it ruined a lot for me. I was so psyched to go in but couldn’t shake that feeling of lying so I just quit. It took a long time after that for me to get my life on track but I did it and am very happy now. Still always wonder what would have happened had I enlisted.
Don't reflect on what could have happened, focus on what you can and will do now.
High school to flight school. Be a warrant officer in the Army and fly choppers.
Character references, what do you need a waiver for?

^^ Bingo ^^
Were you home schooled? How do you not know any teachers?
Try to get in touch with your guidance counselor through the admin office at you're school. You could also contact the school district office. Most of these folks are still working. Even if you don't think so most teachers do truly want to see their students succeed- even the liberal ones.
Good luck young pede and Godspeed.
