I'm not up to date on the latest ghetto slang though I used to be, but I never heard "hooping" used to refer to baketball. Shooting hoops sure. Urban Dictionary has three references to hooping. The first refers to hula hoops. The second refers to smuggling drugs via the asshole, and the third refers to getting high via the asshole.
