It used to be called sophistry and was a whole body of philosophy prior to this one dick that just wouldn't stop corrupting the youth and owning the sophists with facts and logic. That one guy is the foundation for the Enlightenment, and can be thanked for just about everything you see.

You're half-right, and so was I. So let me rephrase it. No society can survive widespread (and spreading) insanity that doesn't recognize it as a mortal threat and deal with it, as brutally as necessary, to put it down.
