I'm arguing with a friend who is a medical professional and I'm trying to explain that if you are in the hospital dying of cancer and your insides are bleeding and you are in diapers praying for death to come take you away... and you get covid during this, you should NOT be counted as a covid death. Cancer killed you. Covid had as much to do with your death as saying "oh he died because he stopped breathing".
He evades the argument. I intend to pin him down though. I honestly feel covid has killed maybe 20,000 people in the US that weren't already dying. And even many of those were already compromised in some way. 20,000 dying from a virus is probably a once a decade thing, maybe twice a decade. This world has gone completely insane.
My dad dropped alot of money for my sister to go to Berkeley. Her freshman year she was telling us how corrupt obama was. Back before I cared about politics. Now she's still anti Trump.

I just had a massive middle aged cucklord, male Karen in the middle seat in the plane recently. The first thing he told me was to wear my useless mask over my nose, which I didn't because by default that's enough to soothe their feeble minds to leave me alone. Well, so I did... until he let me to my seat, and pulled it back down.
He got hysterical and demanded I put it back on. I said no. He called the gay male stewardess. It felt like a ridiculous Kindergarten scenario, although he had the ultimate leverage. Well, I had to put my mask back up, told him "fuck you", he got immediately hyper-hysterical and said "he said fuck you to me!!" and he was seated away immediately. He also said "moron" and I just laughed.
I had a free place next to me and was able to read Gulag Archipelago in peace, unbothered by an imbecile like him. At least I didn't had to breathe through that useless mask for an entire hour. Never before in my life was I so much rewarded by telling a person "fuck you" as on that day.
Funny thing is, I was just about to start to debate him and explain to him how irrational he is. Instant win.

I have repeatedly pissed off my peers by asking the simple question, "What is the goal we have to reach in order to reopen everything?" They never have an answer beyond, "I guess we'll just have to wait for the vaccine." At that point I remind them that 2 weeks to flatten the curve has turned into almost 6 months of lockdowns with no end in sight, and they just suddenly want to talk about something else. It's really tiresome, and I'd really like to return to any of my former 3 jobs I had prior to covid. Unfortunately, the restaurant I worked at shut down, there are no concerts happening so I can't build stages as a stagehand, and that basically leaves me looking for work plus helping my elderly parents on their real estate properties doing manual labor. We need to reopen the full economy, and it pisses me off that no one will discuss the dire consequences of the lockdown and contrast it with the consequences of covid.
And that figure is at least overblown by 25% if we did nationally what Colorado did with a revision of death certificates that reduced their numbers of 25%

It includes people who were on their deathbed for other reasons, but happened to have COVID in their system.
