Thank you for stating so eloquently that which I came here to say. You deserve gold and beyond.

When will the culture realize?

I buy all my clothes at Hot Topic, I'm as real as it gets.

Trump2024 5 points ago +5 / -0

Cross the isle of the mall and you can stock up on butt plugs at Spencer gifts. They're always right across from Hot Topic.

Kek.

It's like when everybody started wearing Joy Division shirts and people who like Joy Division were like 🤦. Someone also told me the Hot Topic kids thought SLAYER was a clothes brand.

True Slayer fans skip the middle man and just carv it into their forearm with a razor. As seen on the inside of their Divine Intervention album.

4
Mr_Pink 4 points ago +4 / -0

True Slayer fans listen to Slayer.

Conform or else you're a non-conformist poser!

6
sackofwisdom 6 points ago +6 / -0

I've run into gangs of punks before. If you don't wear the cliche uniform, they don't want anything to do with you.

As with so many things, south park mocked this phenomenon what feels like a lifetime ago.

A poser. Haven't heard that little bit of shaming for like 3 decades now.

Lol.... Conformist

Avdimar 13 points ago +13 / -0

Reminds me of a picture I saw once, graffiti read, "Raise Anarchy!" Graffiti was then written underneath reading, "Don't tell me what to do!"

I grew up in my teens in the punk scene and they were always anti establishment so it amazed me how hard they petition against trump and now shill for the establishment. punk rock is dead again.

americanjerky 4 points ago +4 / -0

Funny how back in the 90s even though I was in the scene, I never dressed the part - no leather jacket with spikes and no colored Mohawk, I stayed true to myself - and a handful of haters would call ME a poseur for not conforming. Now they are all the conformist poseur scum.

And Ian Curtis was a loyal Tory.

2
Fabius 2 points ago +2 / -0

It's not punk rock if they're in league with the establishment. They're posers. 100%

"I threw my soy latte on the GROUND!"

5
Junkevil 5 points ago +5 / -0

Punks that dress this way are called fashion punks and are always posers. Punk is rebellion and not conformity. Hilariously enough, it's more punk rock to be conservative today, because you're rebelling against the mainstream. Oi oi oi!

Trump2024 5 points ago +5 / -0

"Fuck you, I won't tidy my bedroom!"

4

TFW the entire educational, entertainment, media, and corporate world supports and funds your political ideology, but you still somehow consider yourself counter-culture.

Nope, traditional conservatives are the counter culture, not fucking Starbucks and Nike.

It's funny, because even when I was a teenager in a punk rock band, the system that I rebelled against was always big government telling me what's good for me and how I need to be taken care of. Fuck THAT system.

2

Punk is having the same politics as Procter and Gamble

2
Idontcare 2 points ago +2 / -0

Bullshit, they ARE the establishment and pro-Trump pro-American is now the counter culture. Once again proving the left is both low IQ and oblivious to the ground swell.

2
Gabbs1212 2 points ago +2 / -0

This is what punk has become. Complete conformity. If you don't have the right label, or the right accessory, you're not punk enough. Now you have to tow the party line...or you're not good enough.

Those who are hard working, and don't want to succumb to draconian governmental overreach are the true punk now.

Wearing blackout clothes, with random holes in them, sleeve tattoos and gauges in your ears just means that you're trying too hard to be hip.

Liver-Eatin-Johnson 1 point ago +1 / -0

We need a good MAGA IS THE NEW PUNK meme and turn it around on them. Id be willing to dust off my docs and go back to curb stomping racists. Although I dont want a mohawk again. Too much work

"If your not a conformist, youre not a non conformist." - says the largest group of conformists.

All the sub cultures have devolved into the same carbon copy bs as the old hippies....only difference between, goth, punk, metal, pop, etc these days is the fashion....thats why none of these groups have any influence anymore.

tattoos used to be counter culture...but then everyone got tattoos. Now it's unique not to have them.

I look at blue haired girls in crop tops and think, could they be trying any harder to fit in with hipster Brooklyn?
