Doesn't have to go as far as a self-defense situation. Look at the Atilis Gym in Bellmawr, NJ. These gym owners have been fighting back against the corrupt NJ government for months now. They've had patrons get arrested for just using the gym. The owners just got arrested a few weeks ago and the owners later returned and kicked in the doors to re-open the gym. The community there should be outraged and pushing back, but that hasn't happened to my knowledge.
If this was a leftist organization, they'd would be rallying from all over the region to support that place. The police would back down and so would the state. You're correct, I really worry about the resolve and commitment our side has to fight back.
That's why I've been saying for years the right has been individualistic to a fault. Too much "But I have a job/family/hobbies" and my response has been if you want to keep those things you better damn well start showing up for more than just voting.
I think it comes down to knowing how to read people and look for the right signs. In my neighborhood, I could go to a handful of homes and feel confident I'm reaching someone who thinks like me. The home is well taken care of. There will be flags up and things in the garage that indicate the kind of person they are. Now this is Texas and those signs are more prevalent, but I think it exists everywhere.
There are other indicators like someone who's apathetic or only concerned about promoting their own self interests. They keep to themselves, never put up flags or show any indication of who they are. Those folks are hard to read and I'd steer clear of them. The lefties are easy to ID. I can spot them a mile away.
