Yes and no. Yes because, you reap what you sow. No, because the rot will spread out.

As a small government person, and also a New Yorker, I find this terribly exciting. The only problem is that De Blasio will most likely lay off the people who actually perform useful functions instead of all the useless bureaucrats that we now have a chance to get rid of.

tomkat2104 10 points ago +10 / -0

Exactly what will happen, he'll say he need to lay off fire and police hoping the bail out will come.

Schools are always the first to be defunded when they want leverage.

amopheldupsidedown 5 points ago +5 / -0

Gotta him them where they can feel it. Never lay off hidden bureaucrats, just increase taxes to fund the children

MrMxyzptlk 17 points ago +17 / -0

Good. Insane the the city can shed 22000 jobs to begin with.

never_forget_seth 13 points ago +13 / -0

Laying off 22,000 government workers sounds like a conservative dream. Is this a threat or an incentive to not give federal bailout?

at last, and upside!

Dew it!

Well the private companies had to fire all their employees because of this, so why wouldn't cities have to follow suit?

6
JigglesV 6 points ago +6 / -0

He gotta be walkin around with a best Nd private security to be saying this shit

The Communist Mayor, who defanged and defunded the NYPD blamed Covid for the increase in crime.

de Blasio, pointing at a virus and saying, "Look what you made me do"

aaafirefly123 5 points ago +5 / -0

Please do it, the city would be better off without a bunch of Democrats screwing it up.

You consistently defied the will of the Federal Government and the President, therefore you don’t deserve a dime.

Good. Govenments have long needed to experience the recession that the rest of us of us did in 2008 and through most of the Obama administration. Learn to code.

bundyfly 4 points ago +4 / -0

It is your city to shit on...just don't be surprised at the outcome.

4
PB_Mack 4 points ago +4 / -0

This just gives conservatives a political hard on.

4
Thingthing22 4 points ago +4 / -0

Did he think this would make people not want to vote Republican?

4
tommichael522 4 points ago +4 / -0

FUCK HIM. don't give NYC a dime! I live in NYC and I don't care, send a message to that asshole

DeBlasio can budget 27 police officers for 24 hour shifts to protect a fucking Marxist mural and now he wants funding. FUCK HIM

I'm reminded of the scene in Blazing Saddles when Sheriff Bart holds himself hostage.

3
Dizzyedge 3 points ago +3 / -0

WTF. They should've been laid off or had their pay cut months ago...just like most people in the US who work in companies with severely reduced revenues.

3
magaspif 3 points ago +3 / -0

so probably at least 15k or more of those city workers voted for this trash so fuck em.

3
havax 3 points ago +3 / -0

So basically he is holding 22,000 people's jobs hostage for a payoff demand. Real smart.

3
SpaceForceRanger 3 points ago +3 / -0

Sorry but if watching NYC collapse is the price for waking up the rest of the country to the disaster that is liberal policy making and hopefully waking up Americans to get them out of office, then let it burn.

Don't stop

3
barwhack 3 points ago +3 / -0

No bailout. You scrounge your own funds. Shakedown some more rich people: that seems to be working...

3
IlxTheGreat 3 points ago +3 / -0

Do we get to pick the city workers? Think I'd start in the Department of Education, they don't seem to be working anyway.

3
never_lose_faith 3 points ago +3 / -0

He talks about needing help like he didn't just DEFUND THE NYPD BY ONE BILLION DOLLARS. Thank God above that I was lead away from that shit hole state.

The only one who should be laid off is him.

3
Psycochico 3 points ago +3 / -0

Bye Felicia! Shut it all down. Those businesses can all move to where Americans aren't brain dead like this fool and the dopes that voted for him.

Most likely will affect essential workers not political hacks.

Good the damn roads haven’t been fixed since the 1970 and are always being under construction.

Then when Conservatives elect a new Mayor and Governor (hopefully) they can begin to start making changes that actually benefit the state.
