Trump seems to like MS though. We have to trust him.

Also, Bill Gates resigned from the Microsoft board a while ago.

PelosisPetrifiedPuss 39 points ago +40 / -1

You don't need to be on the board if you can control people that are on the board.

Trust me. Bill G is not in charge of shit at MSFT.

Why should we trust you random internet guy?

16

Because he said "trust me".

11

Well you got me brother. I trust this pede

I guess you shouldn't? I thought we're all here to pool our ideas and experiences, so I'm sharing my experience.

If you preface a statement with "Trust me" at least provide some form of ethos or people will not take you seriously

know people who work at msft, they say people there suck gates cock all the time and follow everything he says. He doesnt have to be on the board for people there to do anything he says

I work at Microsoft and cannot confirm. We have a whole lot of folks working in line with the US' best interests in mind and have enough Trump supporters on the inside to make the SJWs squirm. The silent majority is strongly intact here. I've worked in most of big tech and Microsoft is currently our best hope for owning Tik Tok.

If you also work here and don't believe me, hop on Blind and give a shout out to td.win with a poll. You'll see the MAGA and salt flow :)

Also Bill Gates is a loser.

Please buy Twitter and Facebook while you're at it and run them into the ground.

Too bad MS seems to botch as many big projects as they succeed with. Although Google - equally capable of throwing money down the toilet - makes that easy to search.

Bing provides a more robust ust porn search... for whatever reason, so that's... nice.

11
nanowerx 11 points ago +11 / -0

If someone wanted to get rid of Tik Tok, selling it to MS is the best chance you get to shutting it down without having to go the legal route.

MS will release a few updates and then ultimately dissolve the entire project in a year.

Go for the mobile version via passport app - - makes it easier to share with a spouse if you have one. You get 1 physical card but with the mobile card I believe you can have it on 2-3 devices. Not that any restaurants worth using it at are really fully open :'(

Trump can also punish American companies much more easily than Chinese based companies.

I'm not sure what he has in store for big tech (I guess the first step was cutting out their base level H1B workers), I can only hope for the best

China was using it for intelligence collecting. Microsoft is using it for a viable platform/consumer data collecting.

Still slimey, but fine.

11
p8riot 11 points ago +12 / -1

Could this be some sort of Trump chess? Like, perhaps if MS takes on a social media presence, they could be included in some regulation or audit?

4
Ben45 4 points ago +5 / -1

it could give stronger legal standing to sue if tiktok is owned by an American company? (I'm just throwing an idea out there, I don't know much about law/international law)

3
p8riot 3 points ago +4 / -1

Aha!! Right! Because in order for a corporate acquisition to occur, MS would be able to do an audit, maybe even visit jyna (probably not), and have access to internal company documents that are inaccessible to us currently... which, subsequent to the acquisition, we could subpoena for national security.

pmurTJdlanoD 0 points ago +1 / -1

If Trump had the goods on TikTok genuinely using spyware, I suppose he could continue the same surveillance after the MS purchase to see if they're acting in sedition as well, as a buffer for CCP or something like that.

4
lurker3 4 points ago +5 / -1

Microsoft has JEDI contract. Tik Tok is Chinese intelligence gathering software.

Wouldn't you want the company building out your defense systems to also take ownership of and dismantle the spying apparatus of potential opponents and/or avail its capabilities to the US government for foreign intelligence operations?

3
pmurTJdlanoD 3 points ago +3 / -0

I sure would but at this point everyone is so skeptical of everything, hence the comments above this one in the thread.

3
lurker247 3 points ago +3 / -0

WINDOWS ALREADY HAS BUILT IN SPYWARE...WHAT IS REALLY DIFFERENT?

4
MAGA_MEXICAN_CHILI 4 points ago +4 / -0

Use Spybot Antibeacon and you can close off MS spyware. You can also dupe most of those through dummy ports.

Linux is probably the way to go with running a VM for gaming.

4
pmurTJdlanoD 4 points ago +4 / -0

Both are garbage, but I would say there’s a difference between American spying and CCP spying. 🤷🏻‍♂️

It's a marginal improvement. We're moving from Chinese communists to American communists.

The main problem still isn't being addressed here but at the very least Microsoft is subject to American laws. At least in theory.

3
DrHase 3 points ago +3 / -0

In the same way Google and Farcebook are subject to US law?

The biggest problem is that the Tik Tok organization is still going to be staffed by Chinese Communists, will it not? Just the management will change? If such is the case, Emperor Xi will just have the rank and file steal the information he desires, on penalty of refusal being their family being put to death. Trying to wheel and deal with the Chinese is a fool's errand. They have no sense of honesty or fairness. It's a foregone conclusion that they will lie, cheat and steal.

"at this point what difference dows it make?" - none, theyre the same, one will take your data and eventually fuck you with it, while the other will take your data and eventually fuck you with it.

3
Jveers 3 points ago +3 / -0

I completely agree. TikTok has a ton of great content from Trump supporters and people who want to talk about all the fuckery he is working to destroy.
Moving it to US ownership will expose it to the same SJW influence and censorship the other other big platforms.

Ban it and let another company sprout up. Instagram bought vine and didn't do anything with it and that is how tik tok emerged. There was demand.

2
Kweebecker 2 points ago +2 / -0

At least now China has to take the odious single additional step of buying the data and send money into the US economy.

2
thejohnfist 2 points ago +2 / -0

It's an improvement only because we're probably already watching Microsoft and it's movements. Imagine if you will, under Trumps executive order, that we discover Microsoft is helping the Chinese. Well. Guess it's time to seize some M$ a$$et$. $!

2
HiddenDekuScrub 2 points ago +2 / -0

Bill Gates hasn't really been in charge of Microsoft for a while. He resigned being in charge and has been kinda doing just advisory stuff since then since like, what? 20 years ago? His name was already mud back then because Microsoft was "cool" to hate.

Besides, Microsoft is notorious for an entirely different thing: Starting up or buying consumer businesses when they're "cool" but letting them die when they don't flat out destroy the competition. I think the most recent example would be Mixer. If Tik Tok doesn't utterly destroy the likes of youtube in a year, it's already doomed. 🤣

Microsoft is creepy AF for endorsing open satanist Marina Abromovich in this video. It was released on Good Friday and they say she is going to live forever in VR. It got tens of thousands of downvotes and comments after they released it, and they quickly took it down. The only place I could find a working link to it was embedded in this story: https://www.rt.com/op-ed/485930-microsoft-pulls-ad-unpopular-abramovic/

If you need more evidence of her being a satanist, here are some pics of a gala Abromovich threw in Hollywood a few years ago. Table decorations are heads, the naked lady with a skeleton on her, the cakes are naked ladies. One of the cake has its heart cut out with a dagger in what looks like a ritual type thing. The cake is red velvet so it looks like she's bleeding as the cake is cut... And so many famous celebs in attendance! https://www.transformation.dk/Maria-Occult-Gala.html

How does Tik Tok make money?

By selling users info

2
jgardner 2 points ago +3 / -1

No. It's not, but we can destroy Microsoft with laws and regulations.

2
Bubbahax 2 points ago +2 / -0

MS already has everyone's information that uses Windows. Giving them TikTok can't hurt.

2

Used to like MS until Windows 10 / Office 365. Now they are juat like the rest of big tech - giving their bloated NSA spyware away to everyone for almost free.

2
Captain_Cashew 2 points ago +2 / -0

Microsoft has been tied up with the feds for a long time. I hate their new push towards subscription everything. They can't be satisfied getting your money only once per product.

1
Jaqen 1 point ago +2 / -1

Who cares who owns this inane service? It is useless, as far as tools are concerned.

The service is nothing more than hedonistic garbage and anyone using it is probably a moron who failed to read the terms of service and is now crying because TikTok did exactly what it said it would do:

https://www.tiktok.com/legal/terms-of-use

Surprise, you and your data are the product, again.

1
FitOfficial 1 point ago +2 / -1

MS is subject to US law and has cooperated with law enforcement.

If you don't think this is better than it being controlled by a CCP company there's not much help for you.

The one positive thing is that the US government theoretically would have more control and/or legal jurisdiction over an American-owned company than a China-owned one, so if TikTok still kept sending our data to China unfiltered, we could much more easily raid the entire HQ and treat them as Chinese spies, just like we did with the Chinese Consulate in Houston.
