I know I don't have Covid, but its time to go back to my apt in Manhattan as my job is slowly opening back up to office hours. I'm coming from one of the 35/50 no-go zone states (despite a total of 2 active cases right now in the entire rural county I'm coming from, miles away from where I am...such bullshit...)
My question is how are other New Yorkers handling going back? I tried to get info off of Reddit's askNYC but they don't seem to say much or just shame others who aren't afraid of coming in contact with those who violate a healthy quarantine.
I know we're supposed to fill out a form at Kennedy/Newark whatever. And then they'll call you? or text you? I also have a MILLION things to catch up and do housekeeping wise that require me to leave my apartment and take cabs or the subway, plus I'm planning to move apartments soon as my lease ends this month. So are they not going to let me move? let alone get groceries from the store // UnDeR mY BuiLdInG OmG I'm walking down a flight of stairs and into a store that only allows 3 people in at a time with a mask on -I'm such a tHreAt ! // Foodkick and fresh direct and all those delivery services have wait times of WEEKS because people are too afraid to walk outside, so I guess I'll just starve then?
In all seriousness I had a few friends tell me people really just don't give a shit and do what they want anyway. Don't ask don't tell. The news will tell you otherwise that our Commie Mayor is setting up Nazi checkpoints but I really don't e believe they can stop the millions of people circulating the streets. They told me Half the city isn't even wearing masks unless they see a cop at the corner...oh wait there are no cops at the corner anymore. They're too busy busting up family parties and protecting street art because a chunk of of them were let go.
Any advice NYers? what did you do if you came from an "evil" state that didn't lock down in time?
Seems to me that "don't ask don't tell" is the way to go. I'm in PA and things are pretty stupid here too. Don't ask me why I'm not wearing a mask and I won't tell you to suck a fat one.
