NRA leadership is shit, but don't cut off your nose to spite your face. The disbandment of the NRA would be a blow against gun owners.

MAGANatsFan 69 points ago +70 / -1

Agreed. The libs are attacking the NRA because it is the biggest and most famous. But once it is gone, the they will move on to the smaller ones. This is a war, not a battle.

Very good point. When has it ever been enough for these people? Why would they be satisfied with just the NRA?

35
tankmanban 35 points ago +35 / -0

What do we know about GOA leadership? I need more info.

How many Gun Control bills has the NRA lobbied for, again? 7.

7 times they have valued their pockets more than My GOD-GIVEN RIGHT to KEEP & BEAR ARMS.

GOA does not compromise.

I'd like to suggest people look in to the VCDL as well.

Obviously they are Virginia-centric, but they set a good example of what an excellent, proactive 2A organization can, will, and should do.

3
Dimocrat_Lies 3 points ago +4 / -1

If I was the NRA I would totally be lobbying (very loudly) for things that change nothing to satiate the gun grabbers.

Things like making it illegal to spray paint a gun black, use very specific types of hand grips, or use red dot sites that don’t comply with certain color requirements, etc.

Congrats, we did it gun grabbers!

Fairfax, Va.— The National Rifle Association Institute for Legislative Action (NRA-ILA) today announced it is supporting, along with the California Rifle and Pistol Association (CRPA), an important Second Amendment lawsuit challenging California’s newly expanded Assault Weapons Control Act (AWCA).

The suit, Rupp v. Becerra, seeks to have the courts declare the AWCA unconstitutional because the ill-conceived law will do nothing to stop terrorists or violent criminals, and infringes on the right to keep and bear arms under the Second Amendment.

me-no-likely 13 points ago +14 / -1

I picked up $850 worth of high capacity magazines for guns I don’t even own yet because of the NRA supported lawsuit of Duncan v Becerra.

New York is trying to disband the NRA because the leadership was caught spending funds on vacations and such...I'm sure BLM and Planned Parenthood will get their finances looked over aaaaany day now...

3
Slick_Willy 3 points ago +4 / -1

lol the BLM money got funneled to the DNC and its an open 'secret'

No one cares, Barr is ASLEEP.

I hate Barr, he is all talk and no action. Change my mind?

12
geocitiesuser 12 points ago +14 / -2

NY AG going to try to dissolve it, thedonald.win pedes apparently hated NRA anyway

26
tankmanban 26 points ago +26 / -0

this push seems coordinated.

12
geocitiesuser 12 points ago +15 / -3

yeah, all the conservatives I know IRL are all for the NRA. This is a new one on me.

11
AdmrlNelson 11 points ago +14 / -3

It's because the NRA has stupid by don't nothing while 2A is continually diminished and stepped in in a lot of states.

They didn't come out against the unconstitutional seizure of the McCloskey's guns after they did nothing wrong (because the state is a castle doctrine state). Stuff like that.

You can go further back to the assault weapons ban, etc. I think people just get tired of the NRA seemingly never standing up for our rights.

7
Ballind 7 points ago +7 / -0

All the conservatives i know (who are knowledgeable about guns) can't stand the nra. They spend money to lose and fight against our rights.

6
Voluntaryism 6 points ago +7 / -1

The NRA isn't all for them

4
VA-Pede 4 points ago +4 / -0

The NRA has been garbage for years.

VCDL and GOA are actually proactive.

3
Voluntaryism 3 points ago +3 / -0

Now that I think about it. . .

But no, I made my post before the rest, and was commenting a while before i saw anybody else saying anything, and i am certainly not part of any organized "attempt to push" GOA. Of course, my credibility is zero, so you'll just have to take my word for it.

Maybe the rest of them are bought, and if so, that makes one wonder, why would they need to buy their marketing? their mission statement should say enough by themselves.

Thank you for opening my mind pede, I will do some research on this.

6
tankmanban 6 points ago +6 / -0

I respect you for standing up for what you believe, being responsive, but mostly for being inquisitive. I have no reason to think you are a bad pede.

I too am wondering who they are but with any sudden spike in any organization, I have to wonder.

8
Voluntaryism 8 points ago +9 / -1

I mean, my original thought was, "If Ron Paul liked 'em, they can't be that bad". But orgs change over time, and maybe they have deviated from the principles they were founded on.

In all my ~15 minutes of research, I haven't really found anything at all. Their official website was my first place to look, and they seem to be as Pro-2A as ever. I checked out the wiki article, which was as biased as one can imagine, and the public rumours etc. have only told me that it is composed of mainly paleolibertairans, that it's had a lotta wins over the years, putting even the NRA to shame. They also haven't compromised one time.

Opposed sources say:

  • You can't trust them because there's jews in the organization.
  • You can't trust them because they're a more radical NRA (If anything, that makes me like them more)
  • They have in incredible amount of funding (Yet to be proven, big if true).
4
tankmanban 4 points ago +4 / -0

I'm less worried about naysayers and more worried about who runs the organization.

2
BeefyBelisarius 2 points ago +2 / -0

They've been compromising our rights away longer than most pedes have been alive. Small wonder that GOA is more popular around here.

I know it’s fun to shit on the NRA but we’re about to get divided and conquered. The NRA knows how lobbying works, the 55 other orgs that we should ALSO support do not.

12
yallsegregationist [S] 12 points ago +12 / -0

i don’t hate the NRA they just remind me of the GOP. not sure if i can trust them.

9
fatdaddy 9 points ago +10 / -1

Second Amendment Foundation: https://www.saf.org/

Gun Owners of America: https://gunowners.org/

Firearms Policy Coalition: https://www.firearmspolicy.org/

all better things to support than the NRA

10
me-no-likely 10 points ago +11 / -1

Support them all, but don’t act like left wing faggots destroying the largest 2A org is good for us

8
raybiker73 8 points ago +8 / -0

I think this is the best thing that could happen to the NRA. Those of us in the membership have been trying to oust LaPierre and his fag-gaggle for years. This could help us get the org back on track. She would actually be doing us a favor.

Instead of acting as controlled opposition (remember the assault weapons ban in the 90's? thank the NRA for that) the GOA goes hard in the paint advocating for our rights things like constitutional carry. They've also been responsive to members requests. We said "repeal the NFA" and they started law suits that could eventually lead to federal courts ruling the NFA unconstitutional.

Where's my happy switch? It's time we fought back. GOA is in our corner.

TLDR;

NRA is a fudd asociation.

GOA is ready for the boog.

I wonder what the left is going to think when they realized they have destroyed the NRA only to realize all gun owners migrate to the much more militant GOA?

2

I'm offended. We're medium more militant. Thank you.

What did the NRA do? I've been at the mechanics all afternoon

Wayne LaPierre has been embezzling money for years. NY Attorney General is building a case meant to end the NRA.

3

I will continue to support NRA, along with GOA, as I have for years. (and CRPA)

3
Gorignak 3 points ago +3 / -0

NRA Leadership cadre needs to be dumped and replaced with patriots. The org has long been too close to manufacturers and not close enough to the armed citizen in the street. Every human institution loses its focus and becomes corrupt over time. So throw the bums out and reclaim the NRA. I’ve been a member for 40 years and will continue to be, but the Leadership needs to change hands.

When either of these groups do something about unconstitutional gun laws in places like illinois or Rhode Island I'll actually support them. Until then they're both just conserve nothing lobby groups looking to get rich.

Swamp is swamp and it needs to be drained. I don't give a shit what tribe they claim to belong to. I quit them years ago for other reasons, but when they were silent regarding the McCloskey situation, they became dead to me.
