Dude, I would not have tipped. Tips are not guaranteed, they are earned. If a restaurant kicks you out over politics, they have not earned squat from you.

Entirely understandable.

You try to be friendly, diplomatic, courteous, follow the Golden Rule.

Any of us who've had friends, family and co-workers suddenly go berserk w/ TDS, recognize the sensations you've described b/c initially the reactions don't make sense. We each have endured politicians we didn't like, and fairly assume that turnabout is fair play. It's baffling to grasp how people can boil for 4 years with seething, snarling, near-rabid rage. Seems demonic and unhealthy.

I've learned who I can safely have rational, middle-of-the-road disagreements with, but also which acquaintances cannot do the same. I didn't change - they did.
